Salam brothers and sisters I hope you're doing well. I've seen posts from people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community talking about how Islam is a homophobic religion and so is the Quran as they take our beliefs as offense because one of them said "your religion is calling me sinner" and they complain that Muslims and Christians are "homophobic" as we only respect lgbtq+ but don't support them. They think that by not supporting them we're saying they "don't deserve basic human rights" I've heard my parents' advice to just stay quiet but what I want is to stand up for myself and others who are being remotely harassed and being called homophobic because I'm seeing theophobia occurring to Muslims, Christians or anyone with religious faith more than any actual homophobia. So I wanted to ask how can I make others aware that I'm not trying to be hateful or homophobic while explaining that our religion is not meant to offend them? Because if I explain, they might likely say "you're using religion to backup your statement" and I don't want to just simply stay silent. I want to actually stand up and explain to them but without sounding mean or dismissive. I don't know what to say. I also feel that they're victimizing themselves because they believe some of us aren't "admitting" to being homophobic when we're not and using our religion as an "excuse" to "tolerate" them. While they demand respect, they're also disrespecting religious people by saying we're "allowed" to hate religion but we "can't" hate someone's sexuality and how being queer is a "choice" and religion "isn't a choice" I know that by asking questions about someone's religion is not at all criticising, but calling someone's religion "homophobic" isn't right.

this is something that has been bothering me for a while and I was hoping someone could answer or educate me on this topic. when a woman's husband dies she must wait 4 months and a couple of days before getting married. I understand that this rule is put out in case the woman is pregnant. However, the woman is not allowed to wear jewelry, perfume or anything that may beautify her in order to show respect to her husband who has passed away. she cannot go out with friends to feel better and can only leave the house for necessity. I don't think this is necessarily bad but what bothers me is that when a mans wife dies, he does not have to show any respect or mourn his wife's passing away. in fact he can marry someone else a day after her passing away. isn't there some kind of respect shown for a wife who's passed? why is a wife worth so much less than a husband? it's starting to seem like a wife is required to love and respect her husband more than he is required to love and respect her.

Asalamalaikum. People invent endless worships but obviously based on arguments from the religion. For example. There is no hadith that says supplicate to Allah to do well in school exams. But it goes without saying that man is allowed to invent this worship because there is a hadith that says ask Allah for table salt if you need it. I am not talking about saying that it is sunnah of the messenger to this and that act at this and that time because obviously that would be bidah. I am simply talking about inventing new ways to express love, respect and gratitude towards Allah. Is it permissible to invent these kinds of worships in Islam that i have written below? Please look at the examples below. For example: Someone says that he will stand for an hour as a sign of respect and gratitude to Allah? Or someone says he will walk for two hours as a sign of love and respect for Allah. Or someone says that he will express his respect and love for Allah by sitting on the couch for two hours. Or someone says I will express my love and respect for Allah by thinking for an hour only about religion and Allah. Or someone says that for an hour I will write subhanallah, alhamdulilah repeatedly to express love and respect for Allah. Because there is a hadith that says that works are evaluated according to the intention. If the intention is good, then what is the problem here?

What does Islam say about parents apologising to children. I posted a thread previously about differences in cultures. Again, I am part of 2 cultures, and based on 1 of them, parents apologising to children is a very good thing, it is considered setting a good example and it teaches the child manners and also respecting them at the same time if the parent does something wrong and apologies to the child. The other culture I am part of considers this to be almost sin like, i.e. a parent never ever apologies to a child, no matter what, even in an accident situation or even if the parent wrongs the child and realises later that s/he wronged the child. Does Islam have any rules about this? i.e. in Islam, are parents allowed (or encouraged) to apologies to their children if the parent wrongs the child somehow. Or is it considered almost sin like for parents to apologies to children if the parent wrongs the child in some form. For example, the parent is going from 1 room in the house to another, and accidentally bumps into a child because the parent was not looking where s/he was going. Does Islam say that the parent should apologies, or does Islam that the parent should never apologies to his/her child? By saying something like "ohhh, sorry, are you OK"? 1 culture I am part of recommends this, the other culture considers this almost sin like. What does islam encourage? That parents are too high in their position as a parent to apologies to children, or parents should teach their children by apologising to them if needed to set an example? Prefer sunni view with evidence from quran/hadith and/or fatwa.

I have heard that according to Islam we should kiss the hands of our parents to show respect. Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) used to kiss the Prophet (SAW) hands and give up her space for him to sit whenever he visited her. However some people say that a younger person should kiss any older person's hand while some say it is haram unless the two people are mahram to each other and others say this ritual is only for between a child and his/her parents and grandparent. Recently I heard that it is encouraged to kiss their parents feet/legs (without bowing or prostrating) However how can we put our head by someone's feet? Is this not a sin itself?

Respect of children
What if parents disrespect their children. Some time parents disrespect their own children they abuse their children. We often heared about the rights of parents but what about rights of children of age more than 20 who are still depending on their parents.

When someone greets me with "salaam," is it more proper to respond "salaam," or should I respond "as-salamu alaykum"?
I have some Muslim friends and they use different forms of greeting, so I am a little confused. What would be a proper response to "salaam"? When should I use the full "as-salamu alaikum"? When should I reply with "wa-alaikum-salaam"?

Asaalamualeikum. I know that we must obey Allah no matter what. But i want to understand things also from a practical perspective. What is the main reason why looking at women with skirts is seen as a bad thing in Arab culture? Is it because looking at awrah of women dressed in skirts that don't cover the body properly is seen as one of the biggest way of disrespecting women? In European culture women who dressed with skirts and attractive clothes are seen as a symbol of respect and stature in the society. Is the main objective of the hijab to respect women because a women that doesn't cover is considered disrespectful in Arab culture just like the disrespect of bad behaviour towards parents? Is looking at uncovered women considered disrespectful in Arab culture just like the disrespect of showing your soles? Is the main objective of the entire Islamic religion ? Is respect the main reason for the existence of all those prohibitions? Is respect the main reason for the existence of all those obligations? Is respect the main objective of all acts of worship?

Manner of correcting spouse
In response to behaviour that is unappealing to him and perhaps negative in general, what evidence is there of the manner in which a husband gives his wife necessary guidance about her behaviour (or as some may say corrects her behaviour).

Who is the abu Bakr (I'm not sure about the spelling) he is talking about ? Does one have to stay silent for a few seconds after mentioning him ? Or, if I assume correctly that abu Bakr is deceased, does one have to stay silent for a few seconds after mentioning any deceased person ? I am not a muslim, I am just a curious person who watched a video and wanted to understand. EDIT: I am probably misspelling the name of Abu Bakr. EDIT2: Since two people agree on the fact that we are talking about abu Bakr, I change my original, misspelled "Boubakr" to the correct "abu Bakr".
