Is this an authentic Hadith? Can someone explain this to me, why did Prophet Muhammad (SAW) say this?

What does our Prophet mean here! Explanation of the Hadith: Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 73, Number 53, Al-Adab

Here when our Prophet (saw) says "And upon you" what does he exactly mean here... just like how the arrogant jews says "Death be upon you" does our Prophet mean the same back at them. If yes, wouldn't it contradict when he said "Be calm, O 'Aisha! Allah loves that on, should be kind and lenient in all matters." If yes, does it question the integrity of the hadith. Please can someone help me understand. Jazakallah

Is there a ruling for giving and returning the Salam while eating?
What is the ruling, if any, of offering salaam to someone who is eating? And also what is the ruling when being offered salaam while you yourself are eating? Lately, we hear people saying that it is forbidden to say "Salam" while eating. Hence the question.

Is it allowed to call anyone "son" except our own child?
I have a cousin brother who is around 7 to 8 years older than me. He calls me betaa (son in urdu) on some occasion purposely or may be just for fun. I don't like it. I want to know if it's allowed in Islam to call anyone son except to our own child?

I do not consider myself Muslim, but I find it respectful to use these greetings to Muslims. It is not much different than I would address a Christian, except the language. Similarly I use "**IN SHA' ALLAH**" as I would say "**God willing**".
I don't want to offend anyone by using these greetings.

What is the proven (via quran/hadith) method of greeting Muslims? I have seen some people who handshake with:
* ...1 hand.
* ...2 hands.
* ...1 hand, followed by putting their hand on their chest.
* ...2 hands, followed by putting 1 hand on their chest.
* ...2 hands, followed by putting 2 hands on their chest.
* ...1 or 2 hands, followed by kissing the others hand.
* ...1 or 2 hands, followed by bowing their head a little.
Which method is the method which was used by the Prophet if any of these. If none of these methods was used by the Prophet, which method did the prophet use, was it just a verbal greeting, a physical greeting, or both?

When someone greets me with "salaam," is it more proper to respond "salaam," or should I respond "as-salamu alaykum"?
I have some Muslim friends and they use different forms of greeting, so I am a little confused. What would be a proper response to "salaam"? When should I use the full "as-salamu alaikum"? When should I reply with "wa-alaikum-salaam"?

We often say **Allah Hafiz** instead of **Ta ta / bye bye**! - Is it only to avoid the culture of other religion or does it have any other significance? - Did **Sahaba** do that? - What is the **view of Islam** about this? Sunnat, Mustahab, Bid'at or only Jayez? Please describe with references.

I.e. if somebody tell you "a-Salamon-Alaikom", then it would be considered as a Wijib practice for you to tell him or her "Alaikum-aSSalam".
I was wondering if it is an Islamic rule.
If so, is there any related Qur'anic verse or hadith (tradition) concerning it?

I am a 19 year old Muslim boy, my brother has rather very blessed habit of greeting everyone whenever he goes out and comes back, even if that going out is for 2-3 minutes. I love to respond to him by Waleykum Assala, but sometimes I am working or doing something else and kinda busy, and then he greets me, and I know that I have to respond to him, so I do respond to him, but at the same time I get very annoyed because of the disruption he causes.
I know that it is the best for me to greet him everytime, but if Allah SWT has given us any relief on this right of a Muslim brother, I would like to make use of that. Can anybody please tell me how often I must greet him back, or can I ignore it sometime?
May Allah bless you all :)

I know PBUH and SAW have different meanings, but I am particularly interested in when Muslims apply each phrase. [To whom do we add the suffix SAW?](https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/2797/to-whom-do-we-add-the-suffix-saw) partially addresses my question, and [Whence came PBUH?](https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/2799/whence-came-pbuh?rq=1) askes primarily about the translation of the PBUH phrase, and [Why do Muslims add PBUH?](https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/1/why-do-muslims-add-peace-be-upon-him-after-names-of-important-people) only addresses the generic purpose of the phrase. My question is: **are there specific guidelines for when to use which phrase for which prophets, where are those guidelines if there are any, and what is the documented history of these guidelines?**
**I am interested in if any hadiths (or Quran) mention these phrases specifically, when were the first Muslims to use either of these phrases, and where is it documented?** It seems Muslims "randomly" (as in different Muslims choose a different phrase to apply to various prophets) choose a phrase, such as PBUH, SAW, SAWW, SAWS and use one of them and stick with it. One of the aforementioned answers suggests that SAW or SAWW is exclusive to Muhammad and that PBUH should be used for the other prophets. What is the basis for this? I don't see this strictly in practice. It seems once a month (exaggeration) I learn a "new version" of this or a different phrase applied to one of the prophets. Did Muslims do this in the day of Muhammad? What is the first recorded mention of either PBUH or SAW being applied to the prophets?
