We both understand that the Qur’an permits the food of the People of the Book, but we differ on what that means in practice today. - Her view: We can't be sure if the animal was slaughtered according to Islamic requirements (e.g., invoking Allah’s name, proper method, etc.), so the meat might not be halal. - My view: If we don’t know exactly how it was slaughtered, we can still say “Bismillah” before eating and it becomes halal, based on the hadith where the Prophet ﷺ said: > The Prophet's Companions once complained to him and said: "We receive meat and we do not know if God's name has been invoked on > it." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Recite God’s name and eat of it." (Narrated in Bukhari) Could someone please explain why scholars differ? Why do some scholars rely on this hadith and others seem to disregard it? I’m originally from the U.S and the opinion I follow is commonly practiced here that meat from the People of the Book is generally permissible if we don’t have clear evidence that it’s haram and we can eat it as long as we say bismillah. My wife is from Southeast Asia, where the more cautious view is followed that meat is only halal if we are sure it was slaughtered properly according to Islamic guidelines. Is it allowed for Muslims to migrate to a non-Muslim land if he is persecuted socially for racial reasons? I read it somewhere that Muslims can migrate to a non-Muslim land if they are persecuted without crime, imprisoned or property confiscated? I am asking for my ownself. I am not imprisoned or my property confiscated but I suffer from social persecution due to racism.

I have read that a Muslim is prohibited from swearing an oath of allegiance to a secular power, e.g., the government of the United States, by specific language in the Quran. On-line references which I have checked seem to be silent on this issue. Is there a definitive answer?

I actually have two youtube channels and I make movies on the games such as roblox and basically most of the viewers are non muslims. So is it permissible for me to take such cartoon film movies which does not include any adult content but moral lessons and typical love stories? Hence: **Question**: Is a wedding which is illegal in the host country still Islamically valid? If so, it would lead to a tangled web. However, a requirement for a Islamically valid marriage might be that it is legal under the host country's laws.

I live in a non muslim country,and recently I started working for a 'tree planting' company. So they import the quarter of their trees from foreign countries but gets the rest illegally from mountains, but the tree is not considered rare or about to be extinct, it's just illegal to take trees from mountains. Islamicly it is a good deed to plant a tree and it's also halal to get trees from mountains but since it is illegal in my country,is my income haram or am I just sinfull for doing illegal stuff?

I go to school and this girl she always bullies me.(non muslim country) And she hits me. I went to the principal about her but nothing was done because there is no proof and this makes me feel very agonized and sad because she always bullies me and never gets punished.I belive in Allah(swt) and I know her day will be here soon when Allah(swt) will make her feel the wrath of the actions she does.I have tried swearing back at her when she does but I decided to stop because I need victory from Allah(swt). I always have eaten halal meat and nothing else. I am now in the USA and some places have no halal places at all so it can be difficult at times to eat meat. I was informed that Allah SWT has given us permission for eating meat which has been permissible to "the people of the book". - Is this correct? - If so, does this mean I can go to a restaurant, say Olive Garden (Italian) or Pizza Hut or something like that and can have chicken? Thank you for clarifications. It makes it difficult when you are in an area that does not have halal places or at least very difficult to access therefore I stick to vegetarian meals.

I have a relative who remain in a non-Muslim country where only a few Muslims exist. He is afraid of eating chicken and beef as he does not know who and how the animal slaughtered. What does Islam says about this? Is it permissible to take the food when I can't ensure Islamic slaughtering rule for animal as most of the people are non-Muslims there?

When visiting a mosque, it matters if the imam is really a Muslim. Otherwise, why would one listen to his speeches? When celebrating an important islamic day, it matters if the people around you are Muslim. Otherwise, why would you celebrate with them? However, not being a Muslim has consequences. In some countries, such as Indonesia , it is mandatory for adults to choose some religion which makes islam an obvious choice but it does not necessarily make someone a Muslim. People in such countries who are actually atheist need to pretend being religious in order to prevent negative legal consequences. In addition, in countries with a higher level of religious freedom, there is a similar problem. An imam who stops believing in god, can loose his job when he admits that. In some families, admitting not being religious anymore can have negative consequences too. People who are relegious may be shocked or angry. As a consequence of this all, there are atheist who say that they are Muslim. So there is a problem. Like I explained, it is important to know who around you is Muslim. However, people who say that they are muslim may not be a truely believing Muslim. How should Muslims deal with this discrepancy to know who around them is Muslim or not?

I suppose there are multiple angles to this question: 1. Can a sharia court from outside the country of residence be used? 2. Can punishment be carried out in a foreign country (where execution is not permitted) 3. Can punishment be carried out in a foreign country (where execution is permitted, eg the USA) 4. Can a sharia court in the country of residence be used? (Are they allowed, even if not officially 'courts' in the host country) 5. Can Muslims commit adultery with impunity in foreign countries if they live there and the host country is not Islamic and permits adultery?

Some parents tell their girls (say aged 5 and upwards) to wear the headscarf when out for example in a non Muslim school in a non Muslim country. Is this right in Islam or should it only be enforced at her first menses and onset of puberty?

Quran 33:59 >“ O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” The ‘hijab’ should be to protect Muslim women but according to studies over 25% of women wearing hijabs on trains in America have been abused and there are countless stories of how women wearing hijab have been catcalled or sexually abused. My question is the hijab is supposed to protect women from any form of abuse but it doesn’t seem to so what is the difference between not wearing the hijab and wearing it if the hijab isn’t protecting women from abuse and that not wearing the hijab may actually reduce chances of getting abused like so and makes the environment more safe for a women?

I live and was born in a non-muslim country, i was also born in a religious family, however, my parents and grandparent came here in order to flee and escape war and the dreadful situations of their homecountry, and i later on found out that hijrah is fardh (obligatory) and my family doesn't know and i also saw a hadith of the prophet where he said something like, whoever settles with kuffaar,i have nothing to do with him. Please clarify, is it obligatory upon me to do hijrah? And if so am i sinning if my family don't support me and don't want to leave and i cannot leave alone.

It is commonly said that Muslims must follow the law of the land (with 'land' referring to dar al-kuffar and dar al-harb) but it is also well known that laws in the west regularly contradict each other and things that are generally regarded as normal are by some technicality illegal but are almost never - if ever - actually enforced. The question remains that if we are to uphold our agreement with the kafir governments, is our agreement to conform to the literal law as written or as it is commonly understood? Furthermore how should we confront laws that are inherently contradictory in nature? Salam Alaikom, I am living in a european country, and I have some friends here, they have really good values, nice speacking, culture, and they helped me during a critical part of my life. So my question is : are there any limits I should have as a muslim with my non-muslims friends ? Should I consider them to be "friends" or there are islamic rules to call someone "friend" ? A common statement that is heard is that "Muslims have to obey the law of the land," and usually the "law of the land" refers to non-Muslim countries which neither base their laws on Islam nor respect the laws of Islam. What exactly is the evidence, then, that it is a religious requirement for Muslims to obey those laws even if they do not directly contradict with Islam? There is plenty of evidence that Muslims must obey the Muslim ruler, but my question is specifically about non-Muslim countries. One argument made to obey the law is that it is a pledge or contract which we have to fulfill. But, what about a person who was born in a non-Muslim country? He never made either a pledge or contract willingly. Note that I am not trying to advocate that people break laws but I am simply trying to determine if it is a religious requirement to follow them. Atheists as well do not believe in a religious requirement to follow the laws. That does not mean they are law-breakers.

I'm american born muslim since i was a young boy. I find it hard to keep up with my din or feel like i'm not dong it right. I don't read arabic, i have trouble understanding or even keeping up with all the rules and sunnah. I feel like i'm a hypocrite because of my lack of understanding. To me i have no doubt about my belief but i feel like my prayers are not being done correctly. I read and try to educate myself on my din and find a alot of things that im either doing wrong or not enough of. Is this a sign that ALLAH has sealed my heart from Islam?

My friend is saying that Islam is not compatible with Western society, but every single example he gives me is not true! - For example, in US law it is perfectly fine for me to avoid pork. - In terms of gender equality for inheritance: "The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females" seems to violate gender discrimination laws. But actually, if I have 2 daughters and 1 son, it is perfectly fine for me to write in my will that 50% of my estate goes to my son and 50% to the 2 daughters. Is there an instruction in the Qur'an that would be illegal to follow in USA?
