Is it allowed to be friends with Christians?
The Quran says: > O you who believe! Do not consider Jews and Christians as your helpers and friends, because they help each other. If any of you consider them your helpers and friends, then he himself is one of them. Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoers. (Surah 5, 51 ayat) I have a Christian...

I have a Christian friend. Question: am I allowed to be friends with him if he doesn't influence me religiously?

As a new Muslim, I'm encouraged to seek good company:
> One of the best ways that the Muslim can preserve and safeguard their religion is that **they be selective of who they take as friends and company**. ... **This is especially important to those Muslims who have recently embraced Islam... They may have many habits... which are regarded as sins in Islam, and they need good company to help them in their struggle to put them aside.** (NewMuslims.com )
Alhamdulillah , I am fortunate enough to have met such a person. However, I have a concern: while she is devout and educated, and thus is good company for me to keep, I'm worried that I might not be the best company for her to keep.
**Question**: When seeking good company, need I be concerned that I'm bad company for others?
The article continues...
> It is not enough, however, that you befriend just any Muslim either. Rather, you should seek pious knowledgeable Muslims who themselves are trying their utmost to adhere to the tenets of the religion. You may see many Muslims falling short in fulfilling the obligations and refraining from the prohibitions of the religion.
And it wouldn't be too inaccurate to say I'm the "falling short" kind of Muslim. Maybe I'm the one who should be avoided.

Can a Muslim be friends with kafirs?
I have heard that if you make friends with kafirs, you become one of them. Does a simple friendship with a Christian take you out of Islam?

We two close friends of opposite gender are very dear to each other and left each other for the sake of Allah and promised to meet in jannah. Will we?
I have seen everywhere but there is not clear answer anywhere. Everyone talks about love but not friends. Will this promise be fulfilled? And will we remember this promise hereafter?

It didn't go very well and we both got very emotional and couldn't let go so we decided that I would talk to someone of the same sex and that person would forward online messages between us. I have a feeling like that's also haram but I just don't know how to convince them to let go of this friendship. I'm also struggling to let go of this friendship and I don't know how to completely stop thinking about it.

I don't do haram things like wishing him on his religious festival or something like that. But I heard that it is haram to befriend a non muslim, so am I committing sin for this?

Assalamu'Alaikum,
Before I was religious, I was friends with many people of the opposite gender (non-muslim).
However I have become more religious (Alhumdullilah) and realise it is not permitted in Islam to be friends with opposite gender
The friend group I am part of is full of non-muslims boys/girls and they regularly hangout.
I usually make excuses (such as I am busy with other things) and in rare cases lying to avoid hanging out. Is this permisable?
I have been friends with them for a very long time (5 - 8 years), I'm hoping that eventually they will stop inviting me

I'm a high schooler who is trying to practice the religion and learn more and more each passing day.
However, my friend group usually consists of 2 girls and one guy.
(I'm a guy btw)
Although I like the 2 girls to a certain extent, I'm not fond of myself hanging out with them due to my religion. But this got me thinking: I don't wanna hang out with them anymore, nor do I want to hang out with anyone who I see as an obstacle for myself (e.g. rude jerks, people who distract me from me trying to achieve my goals, etc)
Is it Haram to distance myself from friends and be all by myself? I know it's hard but I don't know what to do

Homosexual Jokes in Islam
A lot of my friends are good Muslims, but we joke around being gay. None of us are homosexual we are all straight, but we just say stuff like "I like men" as a joke. Is it wrong to joke like this or is it haram.

I had a Christian friend, we have been together some years now.
I now come across this verses of the Qur'an that says
“You (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) will not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people)”
[al-Mujaadilah 58:22]
And also in Qur'an Allah said again that
“Let not believers take disbelievers as allies, rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.”
Surah Ali 'Imran [3:28]
