Is there a relationship between the word "hijra" (migration of Muhammad) and "hijra" (South Asian term for transgender people)?
I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence, but there are two similar usages of the word "hijra": > **Hijrah... is the migration or journey of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to... Medina**, in the year 622. -- [Wikipedia][1] > > **Hijra... is a term used in South Asia... t...

> **Hijra... is a term used in South Asia... to refer to transgender individuals who were assigned male at birth.** ... The word "hijra" is an Urdu word derived from the Semitic Arabic root hjr in its sense of "leaving one's tribe," and has been borrowed into Hindi. -- Wikipedia
Given the fact that the second version of "hijra" is Urdu, which has many similarities with Arabic, and it seems to have a related original meaning, it seems plausible there's a link between the two usages.
**Question**: Is there a relationship between the word "hijra" (migration of Muhammad) and "hijra" (South Asian term for transgender people)?

I live and was born in a non-muslim country, i was also born in a religious family, however, my parents and grandparent came here in order to flee and escape war and the dreadful situations of their homecountry, and i later on found out that hijrah is fardh (obligatory) and my family doesn't know and i also saw a hadith of the prophet where he said something like, whoever settles with kuffaar,i have nothing to do with him. Please clarify, is it obligatory upon me to do hijrah? And if so am i sinning if my family don't support me and don't want to leave and i cannot leave alone.

How authentic is the story of the spider web at the cave of Thawr?
Today I've come across this [story][1]: > ... > At last, the soldiers were very close. David ran into a cave to hide. > He heard the footsteps of the men and knew that they would soon find > him. Today I've come across this story :
> ...
> At last, the soldiers were very close. David ran into a cave to hide.
> He heard the footsteps of the men and knew that they would soon find
> him. David was so afraid, his bones shook and hurt.
>
> But then David saw a big spider at the front of the cave. Very
> quickly, it was spinning a web all the way across the opening. Just
> before the soldiers came up to the cave, the spider finished the web.
> As the men started to enter the cave, they ran into the web. "Look,"
> they said, "This web is unbroken. If David were here, he'd have torn
> the web to pieces. He must be hiding somewhere else. Let's go!"
It bears striking resemblance to the following story that is believed to took place during Hijrah, well known by most of the Muslims:
> ...
Their Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was accompanied by his
> best friend started their journey in the depths of the night. They
> managed to leave Makkah, despite being hunted down. They hid in a
> cave. It was late at night and they were in danger. Alhamdulillah,
> Allah is the Most Merciful. Even while in the cave, they were nearly
> caught by the Quraysh…their assassins who were hot on their heels.
> Then there was a spider. It spun a web to protect Prophet Muhammad and
> Abu Bakr Siddique. The Quraysh people came and they saw a spider’s web
> worth days and days of work. So there was no doubt that the two men
> could have hidden in the cave without such a large spider web in front
> of it.
I wonder what scholars think of the Muslim version of the story. Do they deem it as a fabrication/part of Isra'illiyat or as authentic?

Islamic new year beginning in Muharram
I wonder, why does the Islamic new year start in the month of Muharram. As Muslims start their calendar with the immigration of the Holy Prophet from Mecca to Medina, known as Hijra, the first day of the year should be in the month (Rabbi ul Awwal) the Prophet left for Medina.
