Last year the Turing test was passed, where a machine was able to convince people that it was human. There are no problems with computers in Islam as they're just tools, but I'm certain that creating a computer that simulates intelligence would be frowned upon. Has there been any ruling on the subject or are there any materials that discuss the issue? This is simply something I'm curious about as I'm sure it will become an issue in future. I'm sure those working on artificial intelligence will be asking the same question.

As a mobile application developer, I have been tasked with creating a pregnancy app for the medical sector. The design provided to me includes various images depicting the stages of pregnancy and childbirth, including images of both the mother and the baby. I would like to know if it is permissible in Islam to include these types of images in the app. Are there any specific guidelines or considerations I should be aware of regarding this matter? I am interested in understanding any guidelines or considerations regarding the use of images in future applications I may develop. Thank you for your guidance.

Will there be cars and airplanes in Jannah?
Some people say that we wont desire or think about technology in Jannah, while others say that it will be there but far better than the worldly versions.

Does Islam support the idea of patenting?

Definition of Patent from Wikipedia: > A patent is a form of intellectual property. It consists of a set of exclusive rights granted by a sovereign state to an inventor or their assignee for a limited period of time in exchange for the public disclosure of an invention. Does Islam allow people to take patent for their intellectual products? If yes, what complexity a product must have to be allowed to taken patent for? Everyone will agree that something as simple as "lemonade" cannot be patented. But, for example, consider a bicycle. Suppose that bicycle hadn't been invented, and someone invents it today. Can he patent it, so that everyone that wants to ride bicycle will have to pay him for that? Or, can he forbid riding bicycle all over the world out of a whim? You can thing on a different example, maybe on a more complex invention. Does complexity of the invention change the right to patent? If yes, what is the threshold level? Is this kind technology hiring/leasing allowed in Islam? Can a knowledge belong to someone, can it be in someone's control? Does Allah permit this? Please consider the following ayat: > قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِيتُهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عِندِي أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِ مِنَ القُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرُ جَمْعًا وَلَا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ > He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked. > Kasas 78 (28/78) Qaroon thinks that he obtained everything with his ilm (knowledge), but he is wrong. What makes Qaroon wrong? Is this ayat related to our topic? If yes, what do we understand from it?

An army consisting of the best (soldiers) of the people of the earth at that time will come from Medina (to counteract them). ... > > A third (part of the army) which would be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allah's eye, would be killed and the third who would never be put to trial would win and they would be conquerors of Constantinople. And as they would be busy in distributing the spoils of war (amongst themselves) after hanging their swords by the olive trees, the Satan would cry: The Dajjal has taken your place among your family. ... -- Sahih Muslim 2897 (sunnah.com ) If they are using swords, what will happen to guns and modern warfare?

There are some hadiths that say creation is haraam. > 'Aisha reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) visited me and I had a shelf with a thin cloth curtain hanging over it and on which there were portraits. No sooner did he see it than he tore it and the color of his face underwent a change and he said: 'Aisha, **the most grievous torment from the Hand of Allah on the Day of Resurrection would be for those who imitate (Allah) in the act of His creation**. 'Aisha said: We tore it into pieces and made a cushion or two cushions out of that. [Sahih Muslim Book 024, Hadith Number 5261] > Abu Zur'a reported: I visited the house of Marwan in the company of Abu Huraira and he found pictures there, whereupon he said: I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, said: **Who is a more wrongdoer than one who tries to create creation like Mine creation.** Let him create an atom or a grain of wheat or that of barley. This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Zur'a and he said: Abu Huraira went to the house of Sa'ld or Marwan which they had built in Medina and he (Abu Huraira) saw a painter who had been painting pictures in his house, whereupon he told that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had said like this, but he made no mention of the words: "Let him create the grain of barley." [Sahih Muslim, Book 024, Hadith Number 5275] But as long as the creation is not a tangible object, it looks like it's fine . So, how about robots? Today, there are many robots that attempt to walk, move, and talk like people and animals. Does this follow the same category as paintings? Many of them don't have a human face and don't even look very human. Bonus question: What about artificial intelligence that isn't in a physical form but tries to replicate a human mind exactly?

Any our of our (Muslim) activities are referenced to Prophet's SAWW sunnah and Quran. I am curious to find out, **How Modern technology is supported or discouraged in Islam,** because it cannot be linked to prophet saww era directly. This question came out in a discussion with my friend, whose main argument was that **Islam is changing with modern technologies, by allowing them to use**. I argued by the comment that **Islam is the same, it tests and then approves/disapproves these technologies by comparing them to basic Islamic Principles.** I could not find any support to my argument. I would like an appropriate answer with reference.

A hackintosh computer is a standard personal computer that runs Apple Mac OS X as opposed to Windows or Linux. Hackintosh computers are a violation of the Apple EULA, as it states that "OS X shouldn't be installed on non-Apple-branded computers (Macintosh computers). However, there are grounds to believe that this condition is only there to deter companies from making such computers and selling them for a profit (as in Psystar Inc. in the United States, later sued in court by Apple), not really to deter individuals. My question is: Is the EULA valid? Is the EULA enforceable in Islam? (like, does it apply if I remove it from the operating system?). It says that you automatically agree to its terms by merely using the operating system. Isn't that an enforced contract? The condition of the non-Apple-branded computer seems to be a monopoly over the operating system (I sold the product to you BUT you can only use it however we wish and ONLY on our computers). Is such monopoly halal? The company has R&D centers in Israel. Does that make any difference (supporting Zionists by using a product which may or may not be developed in Israel vs. harming somebody who supports Zionists by abusing their product?) Edit: EULAs are not enforceable in my country. Please check yours for such enforceability.

Today I witnessed something really new to me. After reciting his khutba in Turkish the imam (turkish mosque in Germany) came out with a device on which a record of translation of his sermon was recorded and played it, it felt strange but at least helped me to understand what the khutba was all about. My question is are there any fatwas on this kind of use of technology? What are the evidences to allow or prohibit using it? One of my concerns is that the person who's voice we heard might not have been present at all in the mosque.

I made a virus that mines Ethereum silently in the background. You can already see that this is just for money. But I plan on paying the victim back through donations. My target is some gaming station in my country, and they have really high-end gaming PCs. I noticed that they allow us to plug in our pendrive, so I just saw this as an opportunity. I've talked this out with my friends, but they all say it's haram without the slightest idea what Ethereum mining actually is, so please don't answer if you don't know anything about cryptocurrency mining. Some of my friends agree on this idea, but they say that I should use the money for good purposes, like charity, not just buying games on Steam. All I want is an expert's opinion on this. Is this haram, halal, or in between? Summary: -------- 1. I plan to use 50% of the money for donating to charity agencies 2. I plan to pay back the gaming station after I'm done reaching my goal

A mobile phone has access to porn, music, movies, animations and games all are haram. First question is, **is it halal to sell such a device?** as you are not selling porn itself. I am assuming yes, as anything may have potential to be haram. However this is where it becomes a problem for me, what if your designing the mobile. Or media player (ipod mp4), you have the absolute power to block porn access and music access and games with animations access. But you know if you do this it will be a unsuccessful phone. However you are not promoting these harams, but just designing the phone without actively blocking these for popularity and success and leave it to the customers choice. I will never promote people listening to music, but I understand if I block something like that the phone will be virtually a weak and unpopular device where as if you leave the freedom of it. The Muslim who fears Allah and the one who is neglectful can decide what they want to do.
