About drawing and making robots
as-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said, “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘Whoever makes an image in this world will be told to breathe the soul into it on the Day of Resurrection, and he w...
as-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said, “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘Whoever makes an image in this world will be told to breathe the soul into it on the Day of Resurrection, and he will never be able to do that.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim). He [Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him)] also narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every image-maker will be in the Fire, and every image that he made will be made to appear to him and will torment him in Hell.” Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “If you must do that, then make trees and things that have no soul.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim).
I know that drawing living beings is not halal. But I do not know if the point is about *similarity* or *intention*.
(I am developing games so as you know most of the video games includes living beings like human, animal, etc. so I needed a detailed explanation)
**Abbaas said: “If you must do that, then make trees and things that have no soul"**
So I really stuck in here and I wonder if I can draw living beings that is not similar to its real form (like a(n) body/arm/leg is not looking like a real one or drawing a robot or a 3d model of that) or the things that doesn't even have a real form in the world (I am asking the last part depending on this: if there is no living being as so in the world, because there is no living being like that then it cannot have a soul indeed).
Or, is it still not halal because we are still drawing a living being (even if it is not looking like or even it actually is not existing) ?
It can also be considered for making robots or 3d models of them.
Robots are resembling humans in appearance because they may have arms, legs etc. But they are still not the exact same. Even they have legs their legs is not looking like a real skin. They are only made of cables etc. And it means that they have no soul actually. So I want to ask the same question for making robots or their 3d models or their drawings. Is it haram because it is resembling or is halal because it has no soul indeed?
As a second question, is it halal to draw if the character I draw is fully dressed even his hands are covered with a glove or something so nothing can be seen?
I am not drawing any living being for a long time since I made sure that it is not halal. So if it is halal, I will continue by drawing living things that is not looking like its original form or by drawing things that are not actually existing (like aliens, monsters etc.). If not I'll continue not to draw.
Don't get me wrong I am not trying to find an excuse to draw. Just trying to understand clearly. So please tell me if it is not halal. I need it.
I hope I could explain the point I am confused.
Thanks a lot
as-salamu alaikum

My father was a Unani Doctor. He passed away in July 2019. We are 2 brother and I am younger. My elder brother is 20 years older than me and practiced for some time with my father. Our clinic was on the ground floor of the house we lived. It's well known by my father's name/fame in the nearby cities. Patients recognised him.
After his death, he took over the entire clinic and left me and my mother. Fortunately, half of the house where we lived was under my mother's name. As I was also in the same profession and completed my studies around the time of his death only, me and my mother started a new clinic in half of the house.
Now there are 2 clinic's and both claim to be old place of my late father. Recently, my elder brother started keeping my father's image framed and hanged at several places within the clinic. This is affecting our business as patient's still come due to my father's name only and recognise the photo.
Several people have advised to hang a photo in our clinic as well but we don't know if its right. Before my brother had started keeping my father's image, both of the clinic's were getting almost 50-50% of patients.
Main Query: Is it ok for me to keep image of my deceased father hanged inside the clinic under the given circumstances as it has high impact on patients coming to my clinic?

We know that drawing pictures of animate creatures is prohibited in Islam. The following hadeeth are very explicit.
> Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) visited me after returning from a journey, and I had a shelf with a thin cloth curtain hanging over it and on which there were portraits. When he saw it, the colour of his face changed (because of anger) and he said, "O Aishah! The most grievous torment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be for those who imitate (Allah) in the act of His creation.' Aishah said: We tore it into pieces and made a cushion or two cushions out of that. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
>
> Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: Those who draw pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection; and it will be said to them: 'Breathe soul into what you have created.' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
>
> Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) saying, "Every painter will go to Hell, and for every portrait he has made, there will be appointed one who will chastise him in the Hell.'" Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: If you have to do it, draw pictures of trees and other inanimate things. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
However, is one allowed to draw images of humans and animals without drawing their eyes?

I am in a dilema. I feel so guilty and hence am seeking guidance here. I want to know what is the perfect definition of ''inanimate'' object according to Allah and Quran and My Prophet (PBUH). I am an animator. I create animation and that is my career. Since I came to know about the famous hadith about drawing living objects and It angers Allah and I will be asked on the judgement Day to give lives to whatever I drew since then I cant sleep. I was a sinner. I didnt pay much attention. But now I regret a lot and destroyed/deleted all my human, animal related animation drawing. And shifted my career into dead object animation, like map animation, chart, fashion desgining, kid's education related animation....

I thought that video games may fall under the same concept but I wanted to confirm it first.

Salamu Alaikum,
I have known for a while now that drawing humans, animals, or any living thing is haram. My siblings and I used to draw, but we don't anymore. However, my little brother still does digital art occasionally.
I am a writer and write fiction (nothing haram, mostly educational). For my books, I need book covers. My first book had an AI-generated cover. For my second book, I had my brother create some art that I'm using for marketing.
I didn’t think much about it at the time, or else I wouldn't have asked him to do it. But now I’m wondering if it is haram too. It is a drawing of a boy and a girl, both have faces. If t is haram, will we be accumulating bad deeds for every printed copy of the book? Or am I overthinking this?
The book hasn’t been published yet — only five copies have been printed so far — so I can still change the cover if necessary. I just want to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong and seek guidance on this matter.
DO i need to change the cover to something that doesn't contain faces. What are the rulings? What if I have I'm remove t faces and make it a faceless drawing?
Can I do a silhouette of a face?

As-salamu alaykum, the title says itself but I want to clarify what I mean by this. I wanted to buy myself a drawing tablet and since our friends like to do roleplaying, mostly Dungeons and Dragons roleplay. They drew how their characters looked for that session. So I was thinking about it, but drawing animate beings is haram. And I have been searching on this on the internet and from my view I got mixed results.
Some say its permissible, some say its not, some say its permissible under these circumstances (avoiding to draw the face, eyes, nose etc.). So I came here to ask:
Is digital drawing characters, for the purposes of this roleplay permissible or not?

Assalamualaikum,
I have been drawing various things (portraits, sceneries etc) for a long time and sometimes I was told by people that it is sinful, though I didn't get any exact ruling on it. I drew portraits as a stress-reliever. Recently I have learned about the ruling on drawing portraits and have stopped drawing them.
I have covered the portraits with ink. But I also gave some drawings to other people in both paper and online medium. What can I do for those images?
Also I want to know how to repent for it, since I feel very scared after hearing the rulings. Is there any way it can be forgiven if I repent now? I really want to make up for my long-time mistake and want Allah's forgiveness.

Question on drawing and video game development
Salam aleykum,
this concerns characters for video games:
Drawing easily recognizable lifelike things is obviously a huge no-go, also you do not want to give into this wretched degenerate lewd gacha scheme that's popular despite the ridiculous amounts of money to be made. Fire burns paper...
But how is it when characters are lo-fi highly pixelated and have hollowed out eyes in pure black?
Do pure black eyes which display an empty skull count as depictions of the living, can the argument be made that an empty skull is signifying death?
Can one leave out the eyes and just draw brows?
A good combination with faceless characters and fitting ambiente would be horror games, but are these even non-haram (I'd err on the side of nope)?
And of course, since the faith is supposed to be easy and maybe Allah has better to grant for leaving these things aside, I'd be easily ready to discard these altogether.
Then I'd just focus on mecha and robots and shooters with characters that wear helms visors and masks instead of faces, or whose heads look like abstract modern art, nothing lifelike, e.g. like in the game Warframe.
Or maybe have the game be top-down 2D where you don't notice much of the characters.
Allah knows best.

If it is a sin to sell something like that, Ii would definitely burn them. I just need an evidence hadith or Quran verse where it says that.
