As-salamu alaykum,
I am making halal games and I need some sort of music so that it will not feel too empty but the issue is that music are haram so I wanted to know if I can make music by creating sounds on my own like from mouth, hitting some object and any kind of sound other than music instruments and modifying their pitch, frequency and stuff to make a final music.

He (the prophet) replied: Do not drink from the pumpkins, vessels smeared with pitch, and hollow stumps , and steep dates in skins. They asked: Messenger of Allah, if it ferments? He replied: infuse water in it. They asked: Messenger of Allah...” (repeating the same words). He replied to them third or fourth time: Pour it away. He then said: Allah has forbidden me, or he said: He has forbidden me wine, game of chance and kubah(drums). He said: Every intoxicant is unlawful. Sufyan said: I asked ‘All b. Badhimah about kubah . Abu Dawood 3696: Book 26, Hadith 3687
*side note, (الدُّبَّاءِ) *dubba'e* is not a pumpkin per-se but more precisely calabash or long melon because pumpkins were not discovered until Columbus in the 15th century. A bit of an anachronism since the hadith takes place 1,400 years ago.

I've heard about a story of 2 tribes or families where they derived from 2 brother which parted ways. One of the tribes had beautiful women and ugly men while the other had beautiful men and ugly women. I don't remember clearly but they were not allowed to mix with together. Allah allowed the shaitan to misguide them as a test so shaitan made music and had parties from a tribe to attract the others on the other tribe. This is how music instruments and music was invented.
Does such a story exist? What is the source of this story? Or did I just imagine it?

Assalamualaikum,
I am a 3D artist and I recently started searching for clients that I can freelance for but I am confused what kind of clients should I work with I mean I know I can't be working with businesses that make haram products so that is in control.
But when I make the ads for those companies I do not add any audio but they might add some kind of song or maybe add some haram elements later in the future.
So I just wanted to know if it halal to be working with those businesses.
Thank you :)

Is there a hadith "Allah ... commanded me to do away with musical instruments, flutes, strings, crucifixes ..." and is it reliable?
*The Reliance of the Traveller*, by Ahmad ibn Naqib al-Misri (translated by Nuh Ha Mim Keller) in Section r40.1 quotes a fatwa Kaff al-ra'a' 'an muharramat al-Iahw wa al-sama' (y49), 2.269-70) by [Ibn Hajar Haytami][1], which concludes that "musical instr...
*The Reliance of the Traveller*, by Ahmad ibn Naqib al-Misri (translated by Nuh Ha Mim Keller) in Section r40.1 quotes a fatwa Kaff al-ra'a' 'an muharramat al-Iahw wa al-sama' (y49), 2.269-70) by Ibn Hajar Haytami , which concludes that "musical instruments of all types are unlawful". One hadith he uses for evidence is:
> Allah Mighty and Majestic sent me as a guidance and mercy to believers and commanded me to do away with musical instruments, flutes, strings, crucifixes, and the affair of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance.
(The section is quoted in full e.g. at Muhammadanism.com .)
**Question**: Does this hadith exist, and is it reliable?
Searching the Internet, I did not find a reference for this hadith. A forum post lists it as in "Abu Dawud", but searching for
site:sunnah.com/abudawud instruments
(and variants) didn't help me find a source. Other listed hadith in the Ibn Hajar Haytami snippet are classed as weak by others (IslamWeb and FatwaIslam ), which makes me question its reliability.

Please answer this question in a salafi perspective.
Like most people these days tend to do, When I am not occupied with anything in my free time I tend to watch a movie, Documentary, Or the likes with my brothers in deen, And a common occurrence in these is music, When a scene with noticable music pops up we mute it, But there are some scenes which have diolague and subtle music in the background, What is the ruling on listening to this? Should you mute it or can you listen to it as long as you are not focusing on the music, Barakallah feek.

Does this hadith (Aisha and the 11 housewives) prove that Music is allowed in islam? And how does it relate to other hadith?
the two hadith in question are ( Aisha and the 11 housewives) ->[Sahih al-Bukhari 5189 Book 67, Hadith 123](https://sunnah.com/bukhari/67/123) & ->[Sahih Muslim 2448a Book 44, Hadith 135](https://sunnah.com/muslim:2448a) & ->[Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 252 Book 38, Hadith 1](https://sunnah.com/sha...

->[Sahih Muslim 2448a Book 44, Hadith 135](https://sunnah.com/muslim:2448a) &
->[Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 252 Book 38, Hadith 1](https://sunnah.com/shamail:252) :
'A'isha reported that (one day) there sat together eleven women making an explicit promise amongst themselves that they would conceal nothing about their spouses.
...
The tenth one said:
My husband is Malik, and how fine Malik is, much above appreciation and praise (of mine). He has many folds of his camel, more in number than the pastures for them. When they (the camels) hear the sound of
music/lute/tambourine/flute ( الْمِزْهَرِ)
they become sure that they are going to be slaughtered.
....
So basically, my logic tells me that the people of Mecca/Medina apparently listened to the sound of the flute/lute/tambourine before they would slaughter camels and have dinner festivals (and this practice happened during the jahil, ignorance, time peroid and while the prophet was sill alive). Mizhar (الْمِزْهَرِ) means lute or a string instrument like a guitar or oud but can also mean tambourine or flute (مِزْمرِ) was mentioned in another narration. There is not mention of silk, wine, or sexual intercourse in the hadith above just only the musical insturment and feast gathering (since all hadith on the prohibition of musical interments always include prostitutes and alcohol). Because the 5590 hadith in bukhari mentions after the death of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) people will legalize the four things (silk, wine, fornication, musical instruments).
But the musical insturments is happening during the time of the prophethood according the the above hadith, so how do we interpert ma'azif ( وَالْمَعَازِفَ ) if apparently wind and string insturments are supposedly haram, but here string instruments are being used when slaughtering camels?
The prophet pbuh did not condemn festivals/dinner gatherings with music involved in authentic hadith. And the hadith above is authentic in both Bukhari and Muslim unlinke the 5590 hadith in bukahri which is only authentic is bukhari collection (and some scholars criticized it's authenticity). neither Aisha nor prophet muhammad (pbuh) critized the tenth wife or abu malik for playing the mizhar (الْمِزْهَرِ) so are insturments haram?
And what does this mean for the alleged consensus that all companions of the prophet pbuh believed that music was sinful. Does this hadith cancel the consensus notion?

So assuming the discussion concludes in the result of music being haram;
1) What to do with the instruments at home? Throw them away like alcohol or can they stay just there untouched (except occasional dust cleaning).
2) What to do with music you hear unwillingly at work/in the market/on the street etc. Should we really put our fingers into our ears? (Which is very difficult if you have a hijab on your head btw.)

I am not that a particularly devout person but I wish to become more devout.
I used to play music a lot but since it is haram, I left it. Before, apart from my studies and salat, I used to play music in my free time. But after leaving it I am becoming addicted to pornography and I am missing my salat.
Before leaving music I used to pray salat and saum regularly, never forgot them, and I never saw porn before. But after leaving music I am going further astray day by day. As long as I play music, I don't feel it has any bad effect over me. I was religious, meritorious and honest by the grace of Almighty Allah but now the scene is opposite.
Should I return playing music occasionally as it only made be better?

The Zabūr ٱلزَّبُورِ is replete and resplendent with command to worship Allah with music and specifically instrumentation. It seems to always be able to call up another instrument to the service and praise of Allah. The diversity and depth of its cornucopia ensemble dazzles the mind.
But as is widely taught music is forbidden: This seems to present a paradox.
So is the music of the Zabur forbidden!?

Salam, I stumbled upon this hadith in Musnad Ahmed (also in Tabarani & Silsilah as-Sahihah) link [here](https://tracesofknowledge.com/music/10-hadith-on-music/) . and has been authenticated by ibn Hajar Haythami & Al-Shawkani. I just need help understanding it in the light of the difference of opinion in musical instruments/singing.
>عنه أن امرأة جاءت إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: “يا عائشة، أتعرفين هذه؟ قالت: لا يا نبي الله، فقال: “هذه قينة بني فلان تُحبين أن تغنيك؟”، قالت: نعم، قال: فأعطاها **طبقاً**، فغنتها، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: “قد نفخ الشيطان في منخريها
“A woman came to the Prophet and he said: “O Aisha, do you know this person?”
Aisha said: “No, O Messenger of God.”
The Prophet said: “This is songstress of such and such tribe, would you like her to sing for you?”
Aisha said: “Yes.”
Then she was given a **plate** (to beat on) and she began to sing.
The Prophet said: “Satan has blown into her nostrils.”
>“Musnad Ahmad”, 3/449,
“Tabarani”, 7/187,
“Silsilah as-Sahihah”, 3282.
1.The questions that I have are about the meaning of the word (طبقاً) and is it a percussion instrument (that is different from the duff), if so how do understand it in the light of bukhari 5590 (ma'azif hadith)?
2.Then about the fact that prophet muhammad (pbuh) is listenig to a lady singer with Aisha (ra), is the prophet allowed to listen to a non-mahram singer?
3.Did this event happen during eid, or a wedding, or was this a normal day in mecca/medina?
4.Final question is what does "satan has blown into her nostrils" mean, does it imply makruh since then aisha did just listen to her sing, i wound't think it would be haram?
