I’ve come across statements by some contemporary scholars and educators suggesting that pursuing mathematics—particularly with the intention of understanding the order of creation or serving humanity—can be considered a form of *‘ibadah* (worship) in Islam. This idea resonates with how classical Muslim civilizations valued mathematics, astronomy, and logic. Scholars like Al-Khwarizmi, Al-Biruni, and Ibn Sina made substantial mathematical contributions while being deeply religious. *My question:* *Is there a basis in **Qur’an**, **Hadith**, or **classical Islamic scholarship** that explicitly or implicitly supports the view that studying mathematics (or science more broadly) can be an act of worship? And are there examples from Islamic history where mathematical inquiry was treated as a spiritual or religious endeavor?* *What I’ve considered:* *I’ve looked into Qur’anic verses such as *“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth…”* (3:190) and some writings of Al-Ghazali, but I’d appreciate more precise scholarly references.*

We were in a workshop where there was a case study in which we were acting as leaders of tribe and discussing how our tribe should be allowed to go to a stone and perform religious ceremony and worship. As a leader of the tribe, I had to negotiate for my tribe to be allowed to go and do worship. A lot of discussion included me saying "allow us this time to go there and let us pray" Did I perform shirk? There was no intention. It was just for the case study and only a role play. We did not do shirk. Only for the case study we had to fight a case of letting or people go and worship stones. Please help as I'm worried

Does the verse 51:56 transcends life on earth?

The human soul passes through 3 stages and reaches its final place. 1. Soul world. 2. Earthly life. 3. Barzakh/grave. 4. Paradise /hell Relevant to purpose of creation, Allah says He didn't create jinnkind and mankind except to worship him.(51:56) We have report telling Prophet musa was worshipping (salat) in grave. [Meraj report] We also have report telling Prophet ibrahim was found with his back resting on bayt al mamur. Most likely he was doing tawaf of al bayt al mamur or praying towards it. Additionally We have report that the wife of Umar was doing ablution outside the palace of Umar in Jannah ( bukhari and muslim) My question is since pious believers are seen worshipping Allah beyond the earthly life, does the verse of quran 51:56 transcends earthly life and cannot be restricted to worship on earth only? Also it will be a bonus if any report is added to answer that mankind and jinn worshipped Allah in soul world too.

Asalamalaikum. People invent endless worships but obviously based on arguments from the religion. For example. There is no hadith that says supplicate to Allah to do well in school exams. But it goes without saying that man is allowed to invent this worship because there is a hadith that says ask Allah for table salt if you need it. I am not talking about saying that it is sunnah of the messenger to this and that act at this and that time because obviously that would be bidah. I am simply talking about inventing new ways to express love, respect and gratitude towards Allah. Is it permissible to invent these kinds of worships in Islam that i have written below? Please look at the examples below. For example: Someone says that he will stand for an hour as a sign of respect and gratitude to Allah? Or someone says he will walk for two hours as a sign of love and respect for Allah. Or someone says that he will express his respect and love for Allah by sitting on the couch for two hours. Or someone says I will express my love and respect for Allah by thinking for an hour only about religion and Allah. Or someone says that for an hour I will write subhanallah, alhamdulilah repeatedly to express love and respect for Allah. Because there is a hadith that says that works are evaluated according to the intention. If the intention is good, then what is the problem here?

This is the position of Aishah , Ibn Mas‘ud, and Abdullah Ibn Abbas; they denied that dead people could hear living ones." I tried looking for evidence to prove that this is the opinion of Ibn Abbas but i could not find it. I found this article https://www.alukah.net/sharia/0/68439/ but it seems that Karim got this from this article. So i Was wondering if there is any evidence for this?

If I do I'tikaf and during I'tikaf, an emergency situation arises at my work which can not be resolved without me doing some worldly work, will working (like software development) for a couple of hours **remotely from my computer, without leaving my quarters** invalidate my I'tikaf? Currently, there is no replacement available at my work to do the work I'll be required to do, and I'll only get leave from work on the condition that I agree to do the required work for a few hours during those days, if a work-emergency situation arises. There are like 20% to 30% chances that such an emergency situation will arise. But I really want to do I'tikaf? Is there any related or similar example from the time of Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)?

Disclaimer: I am a true muslim, but asking to get the right answer. So, if we accept that Allah has created us to worship him, it doesn’t seem too convincing from a high level. Let’s say Allah gave us free will and that’s why he wants to see who worships him, and who doesn’t. But if that’s the case, why did he need it at all? If the answer to this is that he wanted to “test” us, it brings everyone back to square one. If “testing” us was the case, why not just test if we act good to each other? Why also imply the rule of worshipping him? Initially Allah created angels, then other beings (i might be unaware) and finally us. If he wasn’t fulfilled with the other beings’ worship, did this spark his interest to create humans? If that’s so, doesn’t that mean that Allah is provoked by a motive, which he, by definition, shouldn’t be? Some people tend to give the example of a teacher and his students, where the teacher would test his students to see who is doing better. But this us a very vague comparison given that the “Job” of a teacher is to test. The society expects a teacher to test and created/filter the best students. But Allah has no such surrounding to provoke him this way. Then why…? So if anyone could answer this in the most logical way, it would be highly appreciated.

Assalam Ailaikum. I hope you are having a good day. I just have a quick question. Sometimes when I pray, and there is something in the way, instead of thinking about the object that is in the way I think about the kabah, I think about the kabah when I bow down while praying if this happens. However, I just started realizing that by doing this I may be committing idol worship by mistake, as I was thinking of the kabah and not Allah. However, my intention was to pray to allah and not to worship the kabah. Should I pray for repentance? Thank you, peace be upon you and have a good day.

Is this isolation regarded as *khawla* as defined or does it have any other interpretations in Islam and *'uzla* is also understood as a kind of isolation for worship, so are they both in the same context or if different, what are the main differences?. Mostly I find these two terms in Sufi literature but haven't come across a definition related to authentic Islamic tradition.

The concept of worship in Jannah
The Quran states that the people of Jannah will greet each other with *salam*, and will (often) utter *alhamdulliah*. To my knowledge, there is no worship in Jannah. Is this explicitly mentioned in any hadith or implied in the Quran?

If the only purpose for mankind was to worship Allah, then why was mankind given freewill? Freewill gives man a chance to disobey and not worship Allah. Why would Allah allow that chance to exist if he knew that men who choose to not worship will have grave suffering? **Update**: The answers seem to miss the question. The question is more about the reasoning behind giving freewill to the creation if the only purpose for mankind was to worship Allah. Think about this. Let's say my wife and I have a choice to give birth to a robot or a human child. If my only purpose for having a child was for it to become a rich superstar then I would have a robot child which I can program to follow my orders. However, that's usually not the purpose of having a child. Parents usually want more from their children. One of their wants is for the child to love and respect them voluntarily.. Now, in that case, having a child with freewill makes sense! Why? Because if I'm a parent and I know that my child was programmed to love me it would not the same as if my child loved me voluntarily...
