Assalamu Alaykum, I have Jummah prayer in my school alhamdulillah but Dhuhr is at 1pm right now and we do the prayer during lunch at 12:00-12:45 pm. The prayer plus the khutbah takes 30 minutes. If we were to do the Jummah at its proper time, we would miss almost half of the lesson (for reference, a period is 75 minutes). My school had already asked a local Sheikh and he said it would be permissible to pray earlier. My friends are concerned about the source. Would it be permissible to pray Jummah earlier due to our circumstance?

I am also wondering about the Shia tradition for the Maghrib prayer which is when the redness disappears from the Eatern sky, do we know how many degrees the sun is at this point?

Twilight types For those of you who don't know what it is, consider going through this page or this is good too. The main concern is with morning fajr/Dawn prayer. People say the white thread - black thread, honestly, those terms don't pretty much get into my head. So, I just understood them as simply the turn over from dark to light i.e. the moment you feel there is a change. Is my understanding right? But, practically, in this modern world I can't stand and exactly measure when is there gonna be a change. I would simply rely on the internet and check when is that twilight happening in my place. Here is my concerned page . The obvious concern is because I want to determine the exact time of ending my Suhr. I could safely pray my Fajr prayer after the nautical twilight anyways. If you've gone through the page, there is a lot of difference between the nautical and Astro twilights in morning. So, wanted the exact time until when I can enjoy my Suhr - When does Fajr start / Sahr end? Is it Astro, Nautical or Civil twilight? Also, a related question, - When does Isha start / Maghrib end? Is it Astro, Nautical or Civil twilight? (I guess it is Nautical here, but want a confirmation)

However unable to take the other 30min for magrib. Which then leaves me with no asr mag on time. Due to their rules of not allowing 15 min breaks for prayer and using my own to break it up with. What should I do? As there is no other job opportunities for me at the moment. Should I use toilet break as my prayer break? Or try to explain it would only take 5min to pray as I’m sure you can cut down to praying fard only? Thank you

This has been bugging for like a lot lately. back in the day, I mean 14 centuries ago, there were no clocks, etc, people would simply look at the sky and if they felt it was morning or noon or what ever, would say their prayers. But now a days, for example when fasting or breaking ones fast! we are meticulous about the seconds! and check if the time with extreme measures to see if its time or not!! IMHO this is too much! and we shouldnt realy care this much about time! Why do we care so much and since when has this been like this ? Update: Thanks everyone, some indicated some methods to get a better idea of time, but even with everything you say, looking at shadows, etc, you get a **relative time period** and nothing remotely close to precise timing with a clock down to minutes, and even seconds. More over, at nights(and dawn etc), there was no means to know what time it was, as it is also noted in Quran in one of verses. My point is, it obviously was never a big deal or important matter. The relativeness of time was always intended, since, if God wanted precise timing he would command his messenger to create a clock for his followers! so when he didn't, he must have never intended precise timing!

How many sunnah prayer rakat are there related to dhuhr prayer?
Sunnah fajr= 4 rakat. 2 rakat fard+ 2 rakat sunnah. Sunnah Zuhr= 10 rakat. 4 rakat sunnah and fard+ 2 final sunnah. Sunnah Asr= 8 rakat. 4 rakat sunnah and fard. Sunnah fajr= 4 rakat. 2 rakat fard+ 2 rakat sunnah. Sunnah Zuhr= 10 rakat. 4 rakat sunnah and fard+ 2 final sunnah. Sunnah Asr= 8 rakat. 4 rakat sunnah and fard. Sunnah Maghirb= 5 rakat. 3 rakat fard+ 2 rakat sunnah. Sunnah Isha= 10 rakat. 4 rakat sunnah and fard+ 2 final sunnah. This is what I have done. But when I go on deeper research this is the correct sunnah. Is this correct sunnah? >Narrated Umm Habibah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone keeps on praying regularly four rak'ahs before and four after the noon prayer, he will not enter the Hell-fire. > >Abu Dawud said: Al-'Ala' bin Al-Harith and Sulaiman bin Musa reported it from Makhul with his chain, similarly. (Sunan abi Dawud ) So does it mean I need to do... 4 rakat sunnah, 4 rakat fard and 4 rakat sunnah 3 times 4 rakat Altogether is 12 rakat zuhr, but 8 rakat sunnah rakat. Moreover I have heard when someone pray 12 rakat Allah will give house in Jannah, so does it mean I need to pray exactly 12 rakat sunnah or it can be more 12 rakat. So my point on zuhr should i do 4 rakat sunnah+ 4 rakat fard+ 4 rakat sunnah or 2 rakat. I want to clear the misconception about sunnah rakat.

enter image description hereIn Islam prayer time is calculated based on the position of sun: dawn, noon, set etc , I heard different methods to adopt to calculate prayer time when day or night time is too long or too short. i. Follow the nearest stable country. ii. Combine prayers : Duhar with Asar and Magrib with Isha . But I don't feel none of them a proper solution as Islam suggested 5 times prayers to stabilize daily routines of a Muslim and keep in memory of God throughout a day. But Muslims daily prayers is messing up their routines due to imbalance in day and night duration. The Quran and Hadith explained many things based on the primary audience and the native context of the Prophet. Rules such as Zakat and traveling to Hajj (by camel) are explained similarly to how prayer and fasting times are described. Allah has given us common sense, and the Quran consistently encourages us to think. Therefore, it is our duty to derive rules from their fundamental principles. We do not have to give wheat as Zakatul Fitr; we can travel to Hajj by flight. In places where the moon cannot be observed, we can calculate dates using our advanced knowledge of astronomy. There are regions where the sun never sets or never rises; this does not contradict the Quran. Instead, we should apply our logic. Regarding prayer and fasting times, these are interconnected. Prayer times regulate the daily activities of a Muslim and should not disrupt sleep or other aspects of life—it is not meant to be a hardship. Allah never intended for Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers to be performed consecutively within three hours. Some people make Islam harder by following literal interpretations without considering the context. We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won’t be offended. Can we adopt the following method to find prayer times where day length is too high or too short ? The noon time can be calculated from anywhere on Earth; it is the point when the sun is at its zenith. This is the only correct reference point we get from the sun, regardless of the location, whether the person is inside a well or on top of the Burj Khalifa. Therefore, noon time should not be changed or moved based on Makkah or any other stable country. From the point of noon (N), we can calculate prayer times backward and forward. The duration from noon to sunset is never more than 7 hours across Saudi Arabia. In Makkah, the maximum is 6 hours and 42 minutes. We can use these calculations to determine prayer times accurately. Max_half_day = 7 Min_half_day = 5 Dhuhr : N , where N is the time immediately after noon. X = sunset - N If x > Max_half_day X = Max_half_day Else if x Max_half_day Y = Max_half_day Else if Y < Min_half_day Y = Min_half_day End Fajr end time = N - Y This calculation will align with day-today activities of a person. Let me know your opinions and corrections in the calculation. The attached picture shows an example ideal situation of a place along the equator, where day length is 12 hours.

I’m usually praying at home and I don’t have a Masjid anywhere nearby so I can hear it, but I do have the adhan on my Prayer Watch app, but I didn’t listen to it because by the time I finished my wudu, I had little time left and I rushed to pray. However I was late for the ASR prayer by 2 minutes, while NOT hearing the adhan, and I was wondering if my prayer counts, and do I become a kafir? (Disbeliever) Also something to note: I suppose that I thought 6minutes or less was typically enough to do wudu but well of course I had my doubts so Allah knows the best if this counts as laziness or not

Assalamu aleykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh! Just as the title suggests, today i unfortunately couldn’t perform a Maghrib prayer due to me being outside of my home, let me elaborate: In my country women are mostly prohibited from praying in mosques, yes, it’s a country where more than 70% of the population are muslim, yet historically it just happened to be like this. Thankfully, in the recent years newly built mosques allow women in as they finally started constructing masjids that also include separate areas for women. I kind of went off topic, but what i meant to say is that i couldn’t have prayed Maghrib in a masjid. Then i also asked my teacher because of whose classes i missed Maghrib a few times already if i could just pray it inside of our driving school, to which i’ve received a rejection. So please, tell me what to do in this situation. I know that there are a few conditions as to how one can make up missed salah if one is to do it unintentionally, but as you can see, this scenario doesn’t apply to this rule. P.S: I’d love to skip these driving lessons during these blessed days of Ramadan, but i already did skip 2/3 of my weekly classes for a few weeks straights and since my graduation there is nearing, i am not allowed to skip any more, so please, advise me on what to do. At the time of me writing this, i still haven’t prayed Isha but i do have more than enough time to do so and thus i wanted to receive advice before i perform it.

I am new to Islam and have been trying to get my wife and I to pray more and better. Seeing as we almost never pray, I decided to make a plan to help us achieve all 5 prayers a day in a way that would teach us habitually and progressively. To start, we will pray at least once a day at Isha for a month. Then add another prayer time for the next month. Than, Do that 3 more times until we are finally doing all 5. Unfortunately, she hates the idea saying, “praying once a day is worse than not praying at all, either we pray all 5 from the beginning or we don’t pray at all” the problem is I know us! I know we will not be able to keep it up and quit very soon after starting. My method would help us gradually cut the times in our schedules to pray every single day without being overwhelmed and stressed. We would be able to ensure each prayer a spot in the day; 1 by 1 until there is no excuse for not praying and also gradually build and habbitualize our prayer times so there is 0 reasons as to why we didn’t pray. I understand praying once a day isn’t good but taking the long way around to ensure and solidify all of the prayers one by one is SO much better than… going in blind getting stressed, not planning, accidentally missing a prayer, getting lazy, forgetting and finding excuses to not pray. Am I wrong? How should we start praying again so that we can keep doing it?

I've heard that if you are in a certain place for more than 3 days, then you are not permitted to combine and shorten prayers. Others says 15 days, and some say as long as you are far from your home, however long that may be, you are permitted to shorten and combine prayers.

Ahadiths from 1628 to 1637 mention combining prayers in Sahih Muslim. I saw scholars on Huda TV and other places discuss some of these ahadiths, but I never heard of sahih muslim 1636 before: > 'Abdullah b. Shaqiq reported: Ibn 'Abbas one day addressed us in the afternoon (after the afternoon prayer) till the sun disappeared and the stars appeared, and the people began to say: Prayer, prayer. A person from Banu Tamim came there. He neither slackened nor turned away, but (continued crying): Prayer, prayer. Ibn 'Abbas said: May you be deprived of your mother, do you teach me Sunnah? And then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) combining the noon and afternoon prayers and the sunset and 'Isha' prayers. 'Abdullah b. Shaqiq said: Some doubt was created in my mind about it. So I came to Abu Huraira and asked him (about it) and he testified his assertion. (See also here ) Recently someone told me of this hadith. They made a convincing case for why combining Zhur and Asr prayers and Magrib and Isha prayers is allowed. However, As a sunni muslim, I wanted to ask if sunni scholars have addressed this hadith and it may have other meanings than the surface level meaning a laymen like me can derive. Surely this is such an important thing, so Imam Muslim and others would have talked about this hadith and made it clear to the muslim community.
