Do crescent moons above mosques violate the 2nd comment to not make images of things created by God?

The 2nd commandment says not to make an image of anything that Allah created in the six days of creation. Furthermore, we are commanded to not worship the moon, as well as the sun and stars. Does the symbol of the crescent moon above mosques violate the 2nd commandment to not make images of the moon?
