I am a male revert, born and raised in the west where sewing/clothing-making is traditionally seen as a woman’s role. I would like to start my own line of modest men’s clothing for prayer, but I am aware about the hadith saying that men should not imitate women and women should not imitate men.
Does the hadith also apply to functional roles in society?
Was it the same case in Arabia at the time of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wa salaam) that sewing/clothing-making was seen as a woman’s role?
Is there any other hadith or verse from the Quran that makes this impermissible for me?

Looking online, there's a range of different burkini styles around. Some seem to aim to cover the awrah of a woman (in front of men), while some are more practical for swimming (a kind of compromise solution, or perhaps better suited for swimming only with women).
**Question**: What should a Muslim woman look for in a burkini?
There seems to be a bunch of problems with burkinis:
1. They incompletely cover the awrah.
2. They are skin tight, or become so when wet.
3. They inhibit swimming.
4. They are potentially a drowning hazard.
*Edit*: I tried some conservative swimwear I bought in Turkey. I can confirm 1., 2., and 3.; basically it's like swimming while wearing everyday clothes. And 4. is a logical conclusion from 3. From my experience, I can also add:

Recently alhamdulillah I started to (try to) apply the Deen as best as possible and I have lots of shorts in my possession that do not cover the awrah properly (are a little over the knee)
As a solution can I wear tight leggings (cover 3/4 of the leg) under those shorts? It's more comfortable than wearing pants and I can still make use of the shorts, but I'm not sure if it's ok for my knee to be viewable in tight clothing publicly.
If it's Haram completely, can I donate these shorts to poor people?

Salaams, I wanted to learn more about underwear that is permissible for men. I am a sunni muslim who follows the hanafi madhab and would prefer a scholar who can give me the hanafi fiqh regarding this question.
I am aware that most underwear is permissible providing it is not in the haram colours such as red and does not imitate the opposite gender. However, I wanted to ask whether jockstraps or thongs made specifically for men in satin or lace material is permissible. My wife does not mind if I try them out and see whether I like it or not as we have discussed amongst ourselves. But first I wanted to understand deeper into this topic as to what is permissible and impermissible. This underwear I only intend to wear at home with my wife, i do not intend to wear it outside, i do not intend to reveal my awrah by wearing said underwear on a beach etc. This is specifically to be worn in the comfort of my home.
So to my understanding aslong as the underwear doesn't look like something made for women, then it is permissible? Please help me confirm what is and isn't allowed.

I've asked this question before, and I want to reiterate it to clear up some misconceptions. Please do not immediately downvote this post (most people do), and read it in full before making any judgment.
From my last question and in my research, I have found that the judgment of wearing clothes is dependent on custom. This means that if a majority of men were to wear women's underwear, it would be fully lawful in Islam to wear them as it would not be considered imitation of the other gender.
**First question, is my conclusion above true? If not, why?**
Men have started to wear women's underwear, purely for their soft fabric and fun colors. There are several websites that promote men to do this, and several social media sites prove that it is becoming slowly becoming common for men to wear women's underwear.
I personally enjoy wearing them simply because they are extremely comfortable and have 10 times better colors than men's underwear. It's not clothing that is apparent outward, since it is just underwear. For the context of this question, I am referring to only panties. They do cover me just as well as men's underwear do.
I would like to clear up any misconceptions I have. If you do downvote this question as everyone automatically does, please comment your reason.

Does the color have any significance to it? If so, is it cultural or cited in Islamic sources?
