How can Qiraat arise if the majority of the Quran was written in the Quraishi Dialect? I previously asked the same question but no reasonable answer. I might have misunderstood the meaning of the Hadeeth:
**"If you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit at any point, write in the dialect of Quryaish. Verily, the Quran was revealed in their tongue."**
Please, explain it to me, I really dont understand?
Also, do we know that Uthman purposely allowed these differences?

I generally (or always...) recite an surah in last teen surahs in Quran. Nowadays I have free time to memorize some new surahs, and I want to recite them in salah so that I won't forget.
I did some lookup, and It seems that I need to recite at least 3 ayahs after al-fatiha. Does these need to be from beginning of surahs or, for example, can I read first 3 ayah of a surah in first rak'ah and second 3 in second rak'ah?
Also, does it matter if ayahs I recite make a meaningfull context? I mean, might taking random 3 ayahs from its context be wrong? For example, fourth ayah of Al-Baqarah start with (wa) "and". Would it be inappropriate for me to recite 4th ayah, without first reciting 3th ayah?

Muslims are meant to take the utmost care with the treatment of the Qur'an and in its recitation.
> The proper recitation of the Quran is the subject of a separate discipline named tajwid which determines in detail how the Quran should be recited, how each individual syllable is to be pronounced, the need to pay attention to the places where there should be a pause, to elisions, where the pronunciation should be long or short, where letters should be sounded together and where they should be kept separate, etc. -- Wikipedia
However, this is a major obstacle to someone with a speech impediment (stuttering, lisps, etc.), who may be incapable of correct recitation.
**Question**: Can someone with a speech impediment recite the Qur'an?
When I say "can" above, I'm asking about permissibility (i.e., halal/haram) and desirability in the case where someone is incapable of accurately reciting the Qur'an due to some biological impediment. This is going to vary depending on the person's condition, and depending on how important it is for them to recite correctly (cf. an imam leading prayer vs. an everyday Muslim).
Obviously there's nobody physically stopping them picking up a Qur'an and reciting imperfectly, and moreover, reciting imperfectly will be part of the normal process of learning to recite the Qur'an.

What I want to ask is, Is it permissible to recite Surahs from Qur'an while walking, or Is it against the grace of Holy Book?.
It also helps me to memorize Surahs easily.
I intend to do so in a voice only audible to me of course.

Some people claim that chapter 71 (Nuh) contains 950 letters, same as the years for which Prophet Nuh (pbuh) preached his nation according to 29:14
Here are the scanned images, demonstrating how they counted them as 950
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Popularly, people count the number of letters in chapter 71 as 953. I wrote a python script to count number of letters and words in a given ayah after stripping all the vowel marks and stuff and it counts the letters in chapter 71 as 953, below will be the detailed output of my program for chapter 71. In those images they have reduced letters in verse: 7, 23, 25. They changed count of these words:
1. ءاذانهم - Saying the alif after hamza is just a vowel but then what about the alif after dhaal? remove that as well.
2. ءالهتكم - Same.
3. خطيـٔـتهم - Removed the hamza, only counted kha, tau, ya, ta, ha, ma; but when we read this word we read: khatyii-aatihim i.e. the ya is the long vowel here and the hamza is a consonant if I did it right, we can't remove anything, there has to be 7 letters in this word.
Have they done it the right way or there is no 950 magic in chapter 71?

I was brought up a Muslim and taught that recitation of the Quran in Arabic (although I didn't understand Arabic and still don't) bears great "sawab". I haven't been able to find anything regarding this anywhere in Ahadith or the Quran. What does Islam really say about this? Is it true or it is just a bidd'a (or biddat)?
Technically, it's a waste of time to read the Arabic without understanding a thing of it, isn't it? So what's the logical thing to do in this case according to Islamic teachings?

What does the laa (لا) tajweed symbol mean when reciting the Qur'an?
I was always taught that the laa (لا) symbol meant "Never stop here", and that any recitation would need to continue through it as if it was one phrase. I was always taught that the laa (لا) symbol meant "Never stop here", and that any recitation would need to continue through it as if it was one phrase. So, for example (taken from the break between [Surah Ya-Sin 79 and 80](https://legacy.quran.com/36/79-80))
As I was taught, this would **always** be recited as **"...`aliimullathii...**", with no break between it. And that if I do catch myself pausing at that point and needing to continue the recitation, I should always back up a few words so I could properly recite the entire thing without pausing, as otherwise I could inadvertently be changing the meaning of the verse into something Islamically unacceptable.
However, I have come to be told that there is a difference of opinion regarding this mark in the case of it being above a circle, which I was unaware of. It was definitely not how I was taught, and most English-language resources for reading the Qur'an that I can easily dig up (e.g. https://islam.stackexchange.com/q/4130/22) confirm that it just means "Do not stop, period." and don't mention any difference of opinion in that regard.
So the question lies, in the hopes of making this a comprehensive canonical reference, how should the laa (لا) mark be interpreted when reciting the Qur'an? What does it mean, why is it important, and what differences of opinion are there regarding it?

What do these words mean? After trying to listen to what it is saying, and searching a bit, I find a transliteration like "Audzubillah Himinas Syaiton Nirojim". Apparently the first word means "we seek refuge in Allah", and then there is something about evil maybe?
By contrast, the mp3 for the next Surah, Al-Baqarah, just starts with the "Bismillah" as it is written in my Quran.
What is being recited before the Bismillah in Surah Al-Fatihah?

Assalamualaikum,
I am fully aware that all the ten major qiraats are authentic and have no contradictions in them. I am having trouble on ayat in particular which is Surah hud ayat 81 in hafs and Al-bazzi. I have seen one response on this website but I am still confused on how it means the same thing. In hafs the ayat reads as if the angles command prophet Lut to take everyone in his family except his wife and to not look back. On the other hand in Al-bazzi from my understanding it reads like the angles are commanding him to take everyone including his wife and that she’ll be the only one to look back. I don’t understand how the angels could have said both and meant the same thing. Jazakallah Khair for any help you can give.

I currently have another Muslim brother staying in my house. We have been praying some of our Salat together at home; sometimes he leads and sometimes I do.
Sometimes when he leads Maghrib or Ishaa, he recites Ayah al Kursi (and no other Ayat) after the initial al Fatihah, then continues with Rukoo.
I have always believed that the recitation after al Fatihah, in the first two Rakat, had to be at least three Ayat for the Salah to be valid. Am I wrong about this?
So, is his Salah valid in this case? And is my Salah valid, when I am praying behind him? I don't want to correct him without being very sure about it.
It's worth mentioning that my friend and I are both Sunnis.
