Are Martyrs dead?

Some brothers say: Asking alive people (parents, teachers, doctors or anybody else) to help us is not Shirk. However asking prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his Ahl-ul-Bayt or other great Martyrs for help is Shirk because they are dead. For example you can see this question on Islam.SE . My question: We should count Martyrs as dead or alive, while Quran very strongly orders us not to count them as dead? I accept they are not **biologically** and **legally** alive, but does it mean they aren't aware of us and we are not allowed to call them while Allah says they are alive? For instance angels are not also biologically or legally alive, but they are aware of us and can do many things under permission of Allah. enter image description here > And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision. Al Imran 169 enter image description here >And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah , "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not. Al Baqarah 154

Why is the martyrdom of the daughter of the Prophet, Fatima al-Zahra, commemorated at three different times?
In the Shia school of thought, the martyrdom of the daughter of the Prophet is commemorated at three different times; the last one today, on 3rd of Jumada al-Thani. Why is it that "there are three different times for the Wafat of Fatima al-Zahra"?

**Can a Muslim man die for his country?** If it is attacked by a nation that has **both Muslims and non-Muslims in the army**, although the non-Muslims are the majority and are the leaders of the country. When it comes to war the enemy will be an enemy whether Muslim or non-Muslim and the majority of the enemy is non-Muslims so my question is: **As a Muslim is it permissible to join that war to defend my people and my home?** Secondly **if I kill a Muslim enemy without knowledge**, will I go to hell for that? Lastly **if I capture a Muslim brother who was with the enemy**, do I have to consider him as a hypocrite and kill him or I keep him as a hostage until the war ends?

When someone blasphemes, can a person who witnesses it kill him and become a hero or martyr if he is executed for murder?

There's a hot topic in my country: One person who murdered his boss for the sake of blasphemy has been hanged after 6 years. From the BBC : > Thousands of Pakistanis have turned out for the funeral of a former bodyguard executed for killing Punjab's governor over his opposition to blasphemy laws. > > Qadri was hailed as a hero by Islamists for the 2011 killing of Salman Taseer, who wanted to reform the strict laws. I was put forward a story which I don't know the origin of: It says that one Muslim and one Jew went to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), with some issue and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), made the decision in favor of the Jew, which made the Muslim angry and he went for second opinion to Hazrat Ali. Upon hearing that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had made a decision and the Muslim was not ok with it, Hazrat Ali beheaded the Muslim, saying he was a hypocrite. If that is true, then does this mean that when someone blasphemes, a person who witnesses it can kill him because he made blasphemous remark, and is a hero or martyr if he is executed for murder? I am confused over this subject, as a murderer was deemed a hero at his funeral in the above example.

Why should we mourn for the killing (martyrdom) of Imam Al Hussein?
As you probably see, Shias (every year) mourn for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (a.s.) in different ways. I was wondering why we should mourn for the killing of Imam Al Hussein (علیه السلام)?
