Dear brother and sisters. I met a girl abroad, who is not a Muslimah. She is willing to accept Islam and I want to do nikkah with her to save myself from committing zina. Nikkah is only for the sake of ALLAH and to save me, my soul from Jahannum.
I travel abroad frequently for my business and it is harder to live longer time period without a wife.
All of her family is non-muslim and they preach Christianity. Thus, they will never agree and she is even scared to ask her family if she can become a Muslimah and get married to a Muslim man.
She will not have a wali from her family for sure. That is almost 100% closer to impossible.
I have 2 friends, with a good character and I can arrange an Imam from Masjid to do nikkah with her after she do her Shahadah. I will write the Nikkah conditions on the paper and I will sign, she will sign, 2 Muslim men will sign and Masjid Imam will sign.
I will give her mahr at the time of Nikkah.
So, the Nikkah will be announced and I pray to ALLAH to forgive if anything is not right and make her halal for me through Nikkah.
Our intentions are good and we will do everything possible according to Islam.
Please advice my brothers and sisters if I'm doing anything wrong or if I need to do something extra.
May ALLAH guide us all and forgive our sins and may ALLAH give reward to those who advice. Thanks

I have two marriage contracts with the same person. The first marriage took place in a foreign country with a **lower amount of mehr**, and the second contract was executed in our home country with a **higher amount of mehr**. However, before finalizing the first contract, both parties agreed on the higher amount of haq mehr which is mentioned in the **second contract.**
The first marriage contract in the foreign country was happened because the marriage court did not permit a higher amount of mehr; there is a maximum limitation on haq mehr in that foreign country. Both our families also live in foreign countries.
We did this to simplify the visa transfer process from the bride's father to the groom. Additionally, at that time, both families could not travel to our home country for other reasons. As a result, the first marriage ceremony occurred in the foreign country, and eight months later, the second marriage took place in our home country.
**From an Islamic perspective, I would like to clarify which marriage contract holds validity, whether it is the first or the second.** I agree to pay the amount of haq mehr mentioned in the second marriage.

Can a Muslim man marry a non-Muslim (and non-Ahl-al-Kitab) woman?

I know from other questions on this site that Muslim men can marry Jewish or Christian women , that Muslim women can't marry non-Muslims , and why there's a difference in marriage law for Muslim men and women . I've also learned a good deal about temporary marriages , but this question is not about that.
My question is, can Muslim men marry women who are not Ahl-al-Kitab? That is, can a Muslim man marry a woman who is either atheist, deist, polytheist, pantheist, Zoroastrian, or anything else I haven't thought of?
Since Hanafi is the school of Fiqh with the greatest number of adherents, I'd specifically like an answer from that perspective. But if you could give a quick note about how widely-accepted your answer is from the perspective of the other schools, that would bring your answer from good to great.

I'm interested in marriage with a Christian woman who was baptized as a Catholic at birth and lives in a Christian nation in a conservative/ religious region. She's officially registered as a member of the Church in this country and she and her parents pay the Church tax. However, they do not go to Church on Sundays and she is not fully convinced about the existence of a God. Besides this, she is chaste and has had no previous sexual partners. Would this marriage be permissible for me?

Why is the fact that Ibn Umar believing it’s prohibited to Marry a Christian woman not more mainstream?

> Narrated Nafi:
Whenever Ibn `Umar was asked about marrying a Christian lady or a Jewess, he would say: "Allah has made it unlawful for the believers to marry ladies who ascribe partners in worship to Allah, and I do not know of a greater thing, as regards to ascribing partners in worship, etc. to Allah, than that a lady should say that Jesus is her Lord although he is just one of Allah's slaves."
Ibn Umar clearly believed it was prohibited to marry Christian woman due to her shirk.
Before you say the Quran clearly it says it’s allowed to marry Christians so it doesn’t matter it doesn’t.
The Quran uses the term People of the Book loosely.
> “And He brought down those who supported them among the People of the Scripture1 from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts [so that] a party [i.e., their men] you killed, and you took captive a party [i.e., the women and children].”- Quran 33:26
In this verse of the Quran Allah uses the term people of the book just for the Jews of Banu Qurayza.
So Quran 5:5 can just be talking about Jews and Sabians excluding the Christians.
Why don’t scholars adopt this view?

Is it haram to marry a Christian woman?
The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator or a...
Allah says in the Qu'ran:
>الزَّانِي لَا يَنكِحُ إِلَّا زَانِيَةً أَوْ مُشْرِكَةً وَالزَّانِيَةُ لَا يَنكِحُهَا إِلَّا زَانٍ أَوْ مُشْرِكٌ ۚ وَحُرِّمَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator or a polytheist, and that has been made unlawful to the believers.
> [[Verse 24:3](https://quran.com/24/3)]
In [this answer](https://islam.stackexchange.com/questions/8622/relationship-and-sex-between-a-muslim-woman-and-non-muslim-man) , user 2350 stated (based on the above verse):
> Basically Muslim are not permitted to marry a polytheist nor an adulterer, otherwise he/she will be considered as the same.
That means that you cannot get married to a polytheist.
Nowadays, most Christians believe in Trinity, which we say is polytheism. **Does that mean marrying Christians is haram even though the Quran allows marriage to Christians?**
*This is not a duplicate of this because the question is about marrying non-chaste people of the book while my question is about marrying any Christian, be she chaste or not.*

I recently reverted to Islam. The girl I'm dating is ok with that. We have talk about marriage and she's Evangelical Christian. I know Islam allows for Muslim men to marry Christian and Jewish women, however it does specifies that they must be "chaste" (as per what the Quran says as I understand). And she's not, she as me was sexually active before we met, and also she was molested as a child thus loosing her virginity in a non-consensual way to begin with.
But I wonder if the chastity part in the Quran refers to the idea they should be virgins before marriage or just that they should be celibate (as for example a rape victim is not virgin but can't be consider that she choose to have sex). Thank you.

I am currently doing a course on world religions at my university and this question is regarding research for one of my assignments that I have due.
I couldn’t find anything on Google so I decided to ask here.
I am trying to find a Quran verse (or a Hadith) that clearly talks about the marriage between a Muslim woman and a non-Muslim man and the ruling on such an interfaith marriage.
Does anyone have a reference?
Also, I need help to understand the ruling, and why Muslim men are allowed to marry Christian and Jewish women but not vice versa.
Apologies in advance if my question is taboo or offends anyone, I’m not Muslim, so I want to gain some insight into this ruling.

I assume or rather see, some scholars discourage Muslim men from marrying outside of the faith and surely for obvious reasons and I understand that perfectly. However, seeing how the Quran allows us Muslims men to marry from the people of the book, does it justify the scholars who are actively discouraging this practice?
In addition, one can speculate that there must be certain reasons as to why Allah allowed Muslims men to marry interreligiously. However, one can not ignore how inter-religious marriages can be complicated. So what significance or reason can we consider, Islamically, when it comes to the ruling of inter-religious marriage?

A book called Taleemul Haq which is based on Hanafi views say that is is haram and not Makruh Tahrimi.
> The first type of makruh is close to haram, that is, **makruh tahrimi** (strictly abominable), for example quitting a deed that is wajib ( religiously obligatory). Not committing this type of makruh causes to earn thawab (reward for good deeds) whereas there is a possibility for the committer to be punished. (http://www.questionsonislam.com/node/13057)

Can we marry non-chaste women of the book al kitaab?
I understand Allah has made it permissible for Muslim men to marry women of the book (al kitaab) who is chaste. Mashallah. What if the woman is not chaste? Is it possible for her to become chaste? What are the requirements for her to become chaste? This is for the sunni school of thought.
