It'll soon be a second anniversary of my dad's death. I'm talking with my cousin who lives in Afghanistan using google translate and he told me that they will hold a prayer on that day. I was hoping to learn more about the significance of ritual. Here's how he describes it in Farsi:
>در افعانستان هر سال ختم قرآن میشود به خاطری شخصی که فوت کرده باشد .
باز ملا مسجد و چند نفر میاید ختم قرار میکند ثواب اش به مورده میرسد.
یعنی به ماما ولی جانم برای پدر ات دعا میکند همه گی .
در این جمع مادرم مام میباشد .
خالیم شان میباشد .
ماما هایم ام میباشد
Google translates it to:
>In Afghanistan, every year the Qur'an is completed because of the person who died.
The Mosque and some people come to the end of the day and the reward will be paid to the case.
I pray for your mother, but my father is praying for you.
My mother is in this group.
Empty is Sean.
Mama is my mom.
Which is leaves me scratching my head a little bit

Why do some madhabs insist on reciting Surah Yasin [thrice] on 15th of Shaban?
I have seen many folks [especially from hanafi madhab] state that it is a sunnah to recite Surah Yasin after Maghrib on 15th of Shaban after one has returned back home from the graveyards praying for their dead. Where can I find a daleel on the subject?

What is the significance of 22nd rajab in the history of Islam (Shia view)?
I have seen Shias celebrate the 22nd Rajab (the seventh Arabic lunar month) by making special cookies and sweet dishes, and by visiting each other. What is the importance of 22nd Rajab in Islamic history? What's the background of this day and why do Shias celebrate this day?

I have observed a few cultures that throw a party, calling upon their relatives and close friends for lunch or dinner to acknowledge when their daughter has reached puberty.
While I have read that back in the day, this was signal to look for potential daughter in laws, given that nowadays most girls tend to marry only after college, are such displays and rituals still relevant?
Also are the girls not made uncomfortable knowing their body changes are being inexplicitly announced among their cousins?
If Islam allows this, why do we not have a similar ritual for the boys similar to the Jews?

Assalam alaikum.
My question is how the entire funeral ritual of a muslim will be carried out
1) if his body is found to be burned to bones. That is his only remains are bones.
2) if only ashes are available with little bit of evidence that body belongs to exact person
Assume police investigated and found 100% that burned body is exact the same missing person or person of interest through DNA test or other evidence.

The ritual of pilgrimage (Hajj) was a pre-Islamic practice, which we do not find in Christianity or Judaism. Islam adopted it in almost the same form as it was done before. Can someone explain to me that it is not a pagan worship? This would tell me that while pagans were doing everything wrong, this was the only thing they were doing right! but to the wrong person. How can they do such a complicated ritual right. Why Jews and Christian have no such practice, where does it come from?
My main question is in what way Hajj is not a pagan worship. Explain please.
> Surely the Safa and the Marwa are among the signs appointed by Allah;
> so whoever makes a pilgrimage to the House or pays a visit (to it),
> there is no blame on him if he goes round them both; and whoever does
> good spontaneously, then surely Allah is Grateful, Knowing. Quran 2:158
