What is the biblical basis for a one world religion in the end times?
I was just reading about eschatology and somebody was stating that this verse suggests that there will be a one world religion, a false religion: > [Revelation 17:1–18 (ESV)][1] > > 1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said > to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of t...

Where is support for this concept found in other scriptures?

Did Jesus say that he was coming back within a generation?
It seems that Jesus was admitting that he would return after the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. That the abomination of desolation was the Roman leader Titus. 14 “But when you see the abomination of desolation[w] standing where it[x] should not be” (let the reader understand),[y] “then those i...
It seems that Jesus was admitting that he would return after the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. That the abomination of desolation was the Roman leader Titus. 14 “But when you see the abomination of desolation[w] standing where it[x] should not be” (let the reader understand),[y] “then those in Judea must flee[z] to the mountains. 15 The one on the roof[aa] must not come down or go inside to take anything out of his house.[ab] 16 The one in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. 17 Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days! 18 Pray that it may not be in winter. (Mark 13:14-18 NET) Jesus then says that after this happens he will come back. “But in those days, after that suffering,[ai] the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light... Then everyone[ak] will see the Son of Man arriving in the clouds[al] with great power and glory. 27 Then he will send angels and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.´(Mark 13:24,27 NET).

There is this other question with an answer that touches on the Great Tribulation as it is viewed in LDS eschatology, but I would like to ask more specifically about the situation on earth during the Great Tribulation: 1. What physical events do Mormons believe will happen before or during the Great Tribulation? 2. In what sense will it be a "Great Tribulation" - is this mostly symbolic or are there spiritual or physical (e.g. economical) reasons that warrant the label "Great Tribulation"? 3. Do Mormons have any official beliefs on how long the Great Tribulation is expected to last?

What is the basis for arguing that the gospel has already been preached to "all nations"?
In [Matthew 24:14](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+24:14&version=ESV) (cf. In [Matthew 24:14](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew+24:14&version=ESV) (cf. [Mark 13:10](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+13:10&version=ESV)) , Jesus says: > And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Many Christians understand this to be a sign of the end times: that Christ's Second Coming will only occur after every "nation" (or people group) on earth has heard the gospel. There are many unreached peoples around the world, the argument often goes, so Jesus won't return until this missions work is accomplished. Is this the only way to understand this verse? Specifically, if this verse is a true prophecy of Jesus, what biblical arguments are used to show that it has already been fulfilled?

Was the Cold War a "rumor of a war"?
So I was trying to sync my iPod to the [doomsday clock][1] when I realized that I don't know what is meant by: >You will hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen, but it will not yet be the end. So I was trying to sync my iPod to the doomsday clock when I realized that I don't know what is meant by: >You will hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not alarmed, for these things must happen, but it will not yet be the end. (Matthew 24:6 (NABRE) ) I do recall that being said as "rumors of war," but that must be in another Bible translation. So, even if it's not the end, it's still important. My conception of rumors of war is all wrapped up in George Orwell, but since he didn't write for quite a few years after Matthew perhaps it's not the right notion. So here's my two parter, which is really a four parter. 1. What to Jesus and His disciples, what constituted a "Report of war"? Was it the result of deliberate misinformation campaigns by the Romans? 2. Was the Cold War a "Rumor of a war"? In reading the signs of the times, was the confluence of wars (i.e. Vietnam) and rumors of war (i.e. Cold War) anything to get worked up about, as a harbinger bringing about the end times?

What Christians connected the occurrence of the Great Schism * and the Crab Nebula Supernova, which both occurred around the middle of 1054 A.D.? This question is not about Christians speculating in astrology—a form of divination, which is unlawful foreknowledge of future events.** This question is related to how Christians have applied Genesis 1:14, >…let them [i.e., the stars] be for signs… to the 1054 supernova—namely, how they saw the supernova as a sign, not of a future event, but of, for example, God's displeasure at the Great Schism . * Also called the "Eastern Schism" or "East-West Schism" ** St. Thomas Aquinas defines astrology as when "one desires to foreknow the future that cannot be forecast by their [i.e., the stars'] means." (*Summa Theologica* II-II q. 95 a. 5, "Whether divination by the stars is unlawful?" ). Basically, "to know with certitude future human actions" by means of the stars is unlawful because humans have freewill, which the influence of the stars cannot take away; "to foreknow those future things that are caused by heavenly bodies" is "neither an unlawful nor a superstitious divination." (*ibid.* , *corpus*).

Abortion and Biblical End Times Prophecy
Is there anything in scripture (or even private revelation to the saints) which says that near the end of the world, the world as a whole will come to accept abortion as morally acceptable?
