All of us know that Jesus had ascended to God the father after he had resurrected, we know that he will come again at the end of time to judge the people and found the kingdom of God on earth.
The question is, will he descend as an adult man as he ascended to God the father, or will he be reborn again as an infant in a new incarnation?.
Note: there are many who claimed to be incarnations or reincarnations of Jesus, some of them belong to new Christian denominations, look: [Wikipedia List of people claimed to be Jesus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_claimed_to_be_Jesus)
Esoteric Christianity like Liberal Catholic Church adopts reincarnation and oneness of god who is both transcendent and immanent and accept Tritheism as three persons in that one God,i.e: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are manifestations of that one transcendental immanent God. Look: [The Liberal Catholic Church](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.thelccusa.org/about/doctrine.html&ved=2ahUKEwiJqtDln9vmAhVaBGMBHVuACIgQFjAVegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw3tmC-K73qW9T0pMn8NF4yE&cshid=1577636090716) and [Liberal Catholic Church (Wikipedia)](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_Catholic_Church&ved=2ahUKEwiJqtDln9vmAhVaBGMBHVuACIgQFjATegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw1jVuej_N56fVnUqmJKBsJ5&cshid=1577637685926)
I would like answers to be biblically based, it's preferred to be by scholars of Christianity, especially of orthodox Christianity.

How do Christian denominations interpret scriptures where Jesus said John is Elijah as anything other than indicating reincarnation?
**Considering:** Matthew 11:13-15 (King James Version): > 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 17:12-13: > 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already,...
**Considering:**
Matthew 11:13-15 (King James Version):
> 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 17:12-13:
> 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
**The Question:** How do Christian denominations interpret scriptures where Jesus said John is Elijah as anything other than indicating reincarnation?
**Note** this is not a question about whether the Bible teaches reincarnation, nor whether the Bible says reincarnation is true, it is asking for how these verses are interpreted as anything other than reincarnation. It's actually looking for the opposite of affirming reincarnation.
**Note:**
- Though in John 1 John the Baptist said he is not Elijah it is common, under theories of reincarnation, for someone to not know they are reincarnated.
- Though Elijah never died but was brought up to heaven, under theories of reincarnation a death is not required, only that a spirit once inhabiting a body inhabits another. Under some theories of reincarnation a spirit can inhabit multiple bodies simultaneously.
- The passage in the Bible that states "a man dies once and then face judgement" (Heb 9:27) is irrelevant to this question as those that use it to claim that the Bible teaches against reincarnation are misunderstanding what a man is and what reincarnation is. A man is a combination of a Spirit, a Mind and a Body. A man dies once, the spirit may then be joined to another mind and body (i.e. reincarnated). The second man is a different man who will also die once.
Furthermore in answers to this question: https://christianity.stackexchange.com/q/93215/60459 Heb 9:27 may not be stating a hard and fast rule.

Mainstream Christianity does not subscribe to the belief of transmigration or rebirth as a real phenomenon.
And the popular reference to this is
> Hebrews 9:27 English Standard Version
> 27. And just as it is appointed
> for man to die once, and after that comes judgment
But this is attributed to at best Paul, but not Jesus.
> The text does not mention the name of its author, but was
> traditionally attributed to Paul the Apostle. Most of the Ancient
> Greek manuscripts, the Old Syriac Peshitto and some of the Old Latin
> manuscripts have the epistle to the Hebrews among Paul's letters.
> However, doubt on Pauline authorship in the Roman Church is reported
> by Eusebius. Modern biblical scholarship considers its authorship
> unknown, written in deliberate imitation of the style of
> Paul, with some contending that it was authored by Priscilla and
> Aquila.
>
> Reference: Wikipedia
So, is there any source in Bible where Jesus Christ explicitly denies transmigration or explicitly state there's only one birth?

What does the Bible say about reincarnation? (as in after making mistakes in this life you are given another chance in the next life).
As far as I know it is not a Biblical thing(since the dead are asleep until Christ will come again), but a co-worker strongly believes that Christianity supports it and I was looking for some resources that might help in this matter.
I'm mostly interested in the New Testament but Old Testament verses can help as well. Thanks

According to the Roman Catholic Church, what are the philosophical reasons that we don't reincarnate into another body on Earth but have to finish our entire life here and now on Earth?

What does St. Augustine allude to when he writes in 'Confessions'?
In Book 1 of St. Augustine's 'Confessions', we read "Tell me, O God, I beg you; in your mercy tell me, pitiable creature that I am, did my infancy come after some other period of my existence which is now past ..." Does this, and the passages which follow, allude to predestination or reincarnation?

Malachi 4:5: >I will send you the prophet Elijah. He will come before the day of the Lord arrives. Malachi 4:5:
>I will send you the prophet Elijah. He will come before the day of the Lord arrives. It will be a great and terrifying day
Jesus says in Matthew 11:14
>"and if you are willing to believe their message, John is Elijah, whose coming was predicted"
Jesus says in Mathew 17:12
>But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.”
It's pretty clear from the above verses that John was Elijah reincarnated.
Wouldn't the above verses imply that reincarnation is true?

In other words is Jesus an angel reincarnated as a man or some other "divine form" incarnated as a man?
And what do they say going on with Michael waging war in heaven post-resurrection?

What's the difference between resurrection and reincarnation?
I'm pretty sure resurrection is vastly different from reincarnation, even though both describe living again. So what is the difference between them? And is one doctrine more typical of Christian belief than another? Are there Christian religions that believe them to be similar or the same thing?

In discussion with others about God's will in situations that don't have any answers (i.e. - difficult prolonged situations) I hear a lot of (as also mentioned in this question and answer) that God is "teaching us lessons and preparing us for eternity".
However, when I put this together with the fact that humans are in all different stages of learning lessons (some almost barely getting by - to some here on vacation on this earth), sayings like "she is an old soul" and the fact that some people don't need to learn certain lessons, they just "have it" from birth, there is a chance after death for atonement - I logically, instinctively and intuitively get the feeling that souls are reincarnated and purified to be more like the light of Christ, through each human experience they occupy.
I have heard there are other religions that believe this but independently of them, are there any Chrisitian denominations that also believe this? Why or why not is it valid?
