What is the difference between praising and preaching?
The original context of the question is Acts 2:11 (ESV): > 11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—**we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God**.” Some claim that the apostles were "preaching in tongues" here. The original context of the question is Acts 2:11 (ESV): > 11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—**we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God**.” Some claim that the apostles were "preaching in tongues" here. To me and others, this looks more like a case of praising (see my reasons [here](https://hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/q/56226/38524)) . However, I've heard some affirm that "preaching is praising, always", as if the two concepts were synonymous, and, therefore, that we should draw the conclusion that the gift of tongues is intended for "preaching the gospel" to foreigners. But going beyond the motivating context of tongues, I would like to ask a more general version of the question. What is the difference between praising God and preaching the gospel? Are they synonymous concepts? Are there either subtle or major differences?

Is the 'Ho' in Hosanna! connected in any way to the 'ho' in Jehovah?

While studying Jesus' name and the prophecies fulfilled or reiterated by Gabriel when he addressed Mary to announce the expectant birth, I was led to praise, and the Bible word, "Hosanna" came to mind. Having seen in my study of 'Yeshua' and 'Yehoshua' that 'ho' is the common abbreviation that was used for God's holy name, I wondered if there was any connection. I haven't found any direct connection, but perhaps I have missed something, or perhaps the only connection is in the transliteration of these names and words from Hebrew and Greek into English. Is there any reason to believe a connection exists?

Praise and Worship, what is the difference?
What does "praise" look like? How does it differ from "worship"? We are urged/called to/commanded to praise God (psalms 146:1 and others), but what is it and what does it look like? Romans 12:1-2 states: I appeal to you therefore, brothers,by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sa...

I heard it many times from some Christians and even preachers that God created us to worship and praise Him. I think this idea came from the fact that Psalms contain many phrases like *"Praise the Lord"* and many words related to worship. I'm still not convinced with verses from Psalms that the **main purpose** of creating us was to praise and worship God. The purpose of creating human, as I see from Genesis 1:28 is to *multiply, fill the earth and subdue it.* Is there any verses from the Bible that clearly indicates we were created mainly to praise and worship God?

What practical effect do stock worship phrases, like "God be magnified", have?
In our worship to God many times we utter phrases like "God I magnify you" or "God be magnified". I used to wonder, is God really magnified by saying those words? How can we really magnify God or have him magnified?

Will Angels teach us to sing?
I'm in a discussion as to whether or not angels will teach us to sing. A song we sing states that angels will teach us to sing. I say that we, as Christians, sing a song that the Angels cannot sing. Is there a Biblical basis for the song's assertion that not only can the angels sing but they will teach us? Or, conversely, does the Bible imply that I'm right?
