What is the biblical basis for expecting miracles after the apostolic age, including modern times?

According to believers in modern miracles, what is the biblical basis for expecting modern miraculous / supernatural interventions by God? Are there any passages in Scripture that can justify one's expecting miracles to continue to happen after the apostolic age? **Note 1**: I'm not necessarily talking about sign gifts. Belief in sign gifts does not follow (necessarily) from belief in miracles.
