Is it halal to read a book to check if it has haram

Asalamulaykum Warahmatulahi Wabarakatuh! I'd like to know whether or not it is halal to read a book to check if it has haram; I want to read a book in my house to make sure it doesn't contain anything haram if someone else wishes to read that book, would I be sinful if I found anything haram in there? As a side note, these books are mostly only words, not images, so if they were to say anything haram, would I be sinful if I find it?
