Doing the most important task first thing in the morning (after prayer)

I am very happy to have stumbled onto this site. I am not Muslim but very interested in learning more about it, especially how it relates to practical life issues. I have heard that Islam suggests to attend to the most pressing issues of the day early and first thing (after prayer). This seems like excellent advice, but is this a fair understanding of the Islamic position? Thanks
