Is keeping Taweez shirk?

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatahu, I have a question regarding a taweez given to me by a relative who practices spiritual healing, including methods like burning lemons. She gave me this taweez for protection from evil spirits. While I don't personally believe in the efficacy of taweez, my mother-in-law believes in its benefits and has requested that I keep it. Currently, I keep the taweez in my room, but I don't wear it. **Could you please clarify whether keeping the taweez under these circumstances would be considered shirk?** I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter.
