Is it haram to shave a beard like this?

I have some facial hair (shorter than fist length), and it is quite patchy and does not make me look too presentable. Can I clean shave it all off and wait for my beard to connect so I can then grow it? Or is shaving beard hair at any stage haram? I have been growing my facial hair for almost a year now , and I only have some long untidy hair growing from my chin and some patches on my cheeks.
