It is understood by the consensus of scholars that a father may arrange the marriage for his minor son and the marriage is binding on him when he reaches puberty.
My question is — who is responsible to pay the dower (mahr) to his wife. The father or the minor son?
Ibn Abi Shaybah has posted several opinions in his book , The Book of the Compiler, both of which are contradicting each other. Some scholars say the father, some say the minor son.
I would like to know the opinion of the four madhabs and other classical scholars, and what is the most authentic opinion in this regard.
