Assalamu 'alaikum.
It's in Suratul Waqi'ah. The verses beneath talk about people who will be on the right on the Day of Judgement. > "From among the forecomers, there will be many. And from among the latecomers, there will be less." I understand this part, if only little, by the grace of Allah. Many people from our distant ancestors will be on the right on the Day of Judgement, that is, they were well-guided. But in that same surah, in following verses, Allah says:
>"From among the forecomers, there will be many. And from among the latecomers there will be many."
In this part, I can't understand for my shortage of guidance and knowledge. I request an explanation of these verses. I also request you to recite the surah first, if you don't have it memorized, before making an answer, for I've heard and read proof that meaning of verses depend on its background.
I'd be glad to be corrected if I'm wrong anywhere. May Allah bless you.
