Is it ok to sacrifice a larger animal for aqeeqah?

Is it ok to sacrifice a larger animal (like a cow, ox, or buffalo) rather than a goat or a sheep for the purpose of [aqeeqah](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqiqah) ? If yes, then is it ok to divide the shares as two for the boy and the rest for others in the family, since a larger animal has shares of seven people in it?
