What is an overview of scriptures about the nature and location of The New Heaven and The New Earth that John saw in Rev 21:1?

>"Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea." (Rev 21:1) The New Earth seems to be a physical entity. But does scriptural evidence to the contrary exists? If not, will the old earth be renewed? Or will there be a complete new earth located elsewhere in the universe? Thus, what is an overview of scriptures, and/or thoughts based on certain scriptures, about the nature and location of The New Heaven and the New Earth?
