How is the ākiñcaññāyatana jhana experientially distinct from nirodha-samāpatti and how do they both relate to Nibbāna?

What is the experiential distinction between the “nothingness” perceived in ākiñcaññāyatana jhana and the total cessation in saññāvedayitanirodha? Furthermore, how should cessation of perception and feeling be understood in relation to Nibbāna? In texts such as SN 36.11, the Buddha distinguishes between the “cessation of perception and feeling” and the final Nibbāna element without remainder (anupādisesa nibbānadhātu). If cessation involves a temporary stopping of experience, does Nibbāna only represent a similar kind of cessation that is permanent, or is it categorically different?
