Meaning of the gates

Quran 54:11 > Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down I know the lowest heaven and all the rest have gates because in the hadith of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam he knocked on the gates of the heaven in order to enter it, but does this verse mean the sky above us also has gates?
