Can a nation be under the control of a demon?

In the helpful answers to my other question, [Do all nations have guardian angels?](https://christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/96308/do-all-nations-have-guardian-angels) , it was determined that nations can indeed have a guardian angel. But according to the Catholic Church, can a nation fall under the dominion of a demon? Is there any evidence that suggests that this can be possible?
