From the Gospels, we know that Jesus was a carpenter. > Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?' And they took offense at him." > > Mark 6:3 - NIV However, Saint Irenaeus of Lyon said that Jesus was weak. > Some of them, moreover — [when they predicted that] as a weak and inglorious man, and as one who knew what it was to bear infirmity, Isaiah 53:3 and sitting upon the foal of an ass, Zechariah 9:9 He should come to Jerusalem; and that He should give His back to stripes, Isaiah 50:6..." > > [Against Heresies, book IV, chapter 33, section 12.](http://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0103433.htm) If Irenaeus was right, how could Jesus be the carpenter if He wasn't physically strong? Is great strength needed to be a carpenter?
