Do religious people believe in bibles from the bottom of their heart?

Do they truly believe that the story actually happened? Or do they recognize the possibility of it being a fiction and try to just keep the mental lessons from them? Is religion just a guide to the life and a way to connect to the society? Or is it something that has to be believed as an absolute truth? I am curious what faith means to the religious people.
