                          Considering the language of 1 John 1, this passage is clearly not addressed to believers, yet is widely mistaught in Christendom.

1 John 1:9 KJV
>If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
